they cut out part of the tanks to make it fit over the panel - other wise they would probably have cut the centre piece out as well and the tanks would not fit in anyway. the tanks are much thicker through the middle and therefore would not have fitted through the gap

You have got to be kidding...Or you've gotten older...

I had a BA turbo with an edit 271RWK stock, while it was fun to drive, stuck to the road like ka ka,didn't know what a hill was,but there it ends

Mate, driving my XY 351 Clevo in the Adelaide hills (same roads the Classic Adelaide use) with a four speed is the most fun you can have in a car with your cloths on...

vik...End of story...

Why, is it because everyone who drives a ford, their dream car is a modern GT?

I grew up in the mad max era. While I would love to own a shiny new GT, if I had the choice between the 2, the Mad Max Replica wins everytime. Maybe not the one that des listed here as it seems fairly rough, but one which is as close to the car from the movie. It's a piece of Australian history

There are many GT's out there on the road. You can get one any day of the week. Just look at car sales. The market is flooded with them. But a quality MM replica doesn't come by everyday. You and others may think differently, but there are actually people out who don't see the the B series GT's in the same way as most do.

If you make broad generalisations about the preferences and tastes of others based upon your own desires, you're rather foolish.

Give me the beat up XC any day, the object of your dreams will see nothing but taillights time I'm done.

The new GT does nothing for me?

They aren't special cars, there are so many of them around and anyone can walk up to a stealership and buy one.

The only thing Mad Max about that XC is the fake blower and the dirt, not a very good attempt.

I'm ready to be flamed but...

A mad max mock up is waste of a coupe.

I wouldn't salivate over the 'batmobile' or herbie or postman pat's red van(all more successful and believeable shows than Mad Mel). I can understand how replicas of stuff like the green mustang 390 from Bullitt look good and have an appeal (factory look, nice colour, big block) but mad max is right up there with 'Star Wars'

Maybe someone can sell me an xa-xc coupe and I can make Han Solo's Millenium Falcon?

paint it Matt Grey, stick a figreglass wookie in the passenger seat, have a fake warp drive (or whateve the hell it is called) poking out the side/roof/bonnet.

Or I could do it matt black, stick a fake supercharger and fake tanks and fake stuff everywhere, completely ruin the lines and demonstrate my nerdiness and fanaticism re 30 year old Aussie films.

It ruins the lines, it ruins the look, It makes the owners look like post-apocolyptic trekkies (we love the film so much we dress up like characters from it. Oh Look, I dress up my car aswell!)

Oh. It is late. I might just be crankier than normal. Flame away. I'll probably be repenent in the morning

Sorry, can't flame.

First thing I'd do to any replica is fill the holes so I had a decent chassis and body to play with.

Millenium Falcon though.............

Nah, wouldn't work, I'd never be happy with the wookie hair on the seats.

100% agree. If it's not the actual car from the movie then restore or mod it but another Mad Max clone does nothing for me.

I'll see you in the flame proof bunker ehast13 :

Hey, some good responses to my "Know which I would prefer....", and I agree with most of them. I would hate to have to make a decision between both of these cars if they were both in really good nick (ok, I'd take both:-). The car at Silverton is probably not a great example, but it IS an icon. Mad Max was filmed there (about 20k? west of Broken Hill) and this car was built shortly after, it has been resident there a long long time and IS a tourist attraction - and that whole area is a great place to visit.

And you think people at car shows arent just a little bored with looking at the same model car over and over and over?????

Its all very well and good to have a pristine XB coupe, (and yes id love to have one)... but once the public has seen one, they have seen them all.

I have a replica XB madmax car (yellow one)... and the average public swamps the car moreso then then any other standard looking XB.
Same can be said of race car replicas like the Greens Tuff... or a replica Moffet XB coupe race car... it draws the crowds in because the average non-car type person sees it as something different.

Like the panel van craze... bring one to a car show and people are drawn to it.

Seeing how rare it is to find a coupe at a car show then no, I don't get sick of seeing them, even if there are 10 of them. Mad Max replica's I can take or leave. Seen one you've seen them all........
