What is the longest time you have owned a car?
Mine is 6 years, a little LJ Torana from about 1990 to 96. A mate of mine still has his first car a HQ which he has owned since 1988. My current car a 2003 BA XR6 falcon which I have had for five years looks like it will break my record because it is in immaculate condition and I have no plans on selling it in the near future. |

I can't speak for me, but my old man has owned a Toyota Corona built in 1986 since brand new - so 24 years. It's still in use, my little brother drives it around on his red Ps! The car isn't worth a dime, but he doesn't want to get rid of it purely for sentimental value.

1993 EB2 Fairmont in Everglade , bought in July 1994 for $26,000 with 15,000 kms on the clock. Traded in for new BA in 2004 at which point the kms were 160,000 . Had it just over 10 years
I remember when I bought it I'd wash, and polish it then take photos - just like I do with the GT now except the novelty hasn't worn off like it did with the EB. Was a great car and apart from servicing and tyres all I had to do to it was replace an exhaust and a master cylinder - although the auto was on its way out when I traded it and the cassette player stopped working in 1997

I'll trade it in for a corolla walking frame in 30 years.

Had a HR Prem for over 7 years that I got off my mum who drove it around for over 10 years. It was a great car and took a flogging and never stopped once. I gave it to a mate when I went interstate and he had it for another 4 years before his missus finally rolled it one night on a muddy dirt road..... and it was still driven the 30km back home after it was flipped back onto it's wheels., ahh, the memories.

Bought my mothers Datsun 1600 in 1978, I still own it, so thats 32 years
(she got it new in 1970, so thats 40 years between us) Bought a new TX5 Turbo for the wife in 1986, kept that for 10 years (What a great car that was) and my TS50, bought new in Sept 2002, so that coming up to 8 years I do tend to keep what i like

We had a 1975 Mazda 929 that was bought new in 75 and was passed through the family till it died of rust in 2005, so that car has been in the family for 30 years.
My longest owned car would have to be my ZL Fairlane which i have had for 5 years, before that the granparents had it for 10 years. |

I owned and drove daily a 1964 XM Ute. Done a lot of miles and had four motors, the last being an XE S-pac injected motor. Went like ya stole it and still had the original plates from 1964 on it when i sold it.....
Cheers.................Pete! |
