Default Stolen parts and equipment, Sydney

Hi guys, just had this sent to me, just putting it out there for everyone,
"Please spread the word.

*

I hope you don’t mind me using the club email list to do this, but some good friends of mine have had their workshop burgled and I have offered my support in spreading the word.

*

They own Advanced Performance Machining in Smeaton Grange and run a private top alcohol drag racing team (Team APM: http://www.teamapm.com/). On Sunday night they were completely cleaned out of all of their race motors, a heap of racing gear, plus a whole heap of their customers motors which they were building, all totaling in excess of $300,000 in stolen goods.

*

Unfortunately their insurance doesn’t cover this sort of loss, so the team is up for sale and everything they have worked hard for (including the national ¼ mile record and leadership of the current championship) has been lost.

*

Attached is a comprehensive list of items and parts that have been stolen, many of which I believe are unique. In the slight chance that you or someone you know has exposure to the drag racing world, or even the higher end of modified cars, would you mind forwarding this email on and keeping an ear out for any information that may help the Hambridge family track their parts.

Any info can be passed on to Aaron or Steve Hambridge on 02 4647 1181 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

*

Thanks for your time guys,

*

Matt Amato

*

For your information. Please see below explanation.

Please send this on to anyone you may believe could assist and to get word out about this theft.

*

Cheers,

any ideas on how they got rid of it all? the recent spate of robberies/break-ins lately, it makes me wonder if its a clan doing all this

one day all these scumbags will be caught.. running a race company into the ground by stealing all their stuff they earnt, is not a joke..

No not sure just got emailed the list myself and thought I'd put I on here to reach a wider audience and hope someone can help, it's a low act and must be heartbreaking for all concerned, from the owners to the customers

Far out that's below the belt. Did the team etch any 'signatures' on their work, might be easier to recognise their stuff.
Depending on how dumb/scared/smart the blokes who robbed them are some stuff might start being sold off right away, but they might wait for the heat to calm down and sell it in a few months, but risk being caught with a wearhouse full of parts.
If their a six pack short of a carton, try ebay.

I hope they get their stuff back, you would be so depressed if you lost your livelyhood like this. I hope the owner and his boys keep their chins up and get back on their feet making cars again soon.

Why would you not have adequate insurance to cover your business.

Good reason to quiz a workshop on their insurance cover when leaving your gear or car there.

If you have a look on www.dragster.com.au the full story is there. Insurance was something like $100000.00 a year which nobody could afford.

It was engines. Those engines wouldnt be fully prepaid so the business would have heaps of bills to pay which would be paid on completion

Seriously you commision someone to build your engine or car,who really asks about their insurance cover ???
"You dont have insurance"???
"Nah sorry mate ill go elsewhere"

Feel sorry for the business and im sure many others have lost out to the theiving mongrels in this world
Either from the blackmarket or insurance companies themselves

That's exactly how it is in the Building Industry I work in.

I certainly asked about security when my XY GT was being restored. And when my previous XY GT was in getting a paint touch up. And I spoke to my insurer to ensure the cars were covered.

And yes I would go elswhere!

I have built engines in 40-50,000 range i now that my engine builder did not have the insurance to my engine let alone the rest of the engines in his shop none of them do because it is simply to expensive to cover.

"you don't have insurance"??
"Oh you can get it & my engine will cost me 4 times as much to build, hell yeh go ahead with it money is no issue".

http://www.dragster.com.au/modules/n...er=ASC&start=0

discussion thread from dragster forums including input from shop owners and customers, and a photo slide show of the shopon page 3. end of page 2 had desciption of how they got the stuff out.

sounds to have been pretty well planned out. gear is proberly in a container by now on its way overseas.
