With diesels making up the bulk of sales, I'm thinking Ford has a nice little cache of TX RWDs sitting there.. Jeez, the combined fuel economy figure on the new I-6 Terry is the same as early FG 5-speed auto sedan, that's a huge improvement. |

Im often surprised that Ford isnt the biggest seller, they are great cars and they give their cars away compared to Holden and Toyota. Last edited by Brazen; 04-12-2011 at 10:13 AM. |

They are probably preserving much of their advertising budget for the imminent launch of FG II.

Nearly every day I see an ad for the new Focus, and nearly every week (on Foxtel) I see the Fiesta Zetec ad. Bear in mind Ford also does other advertising via sponsoring- the official car of Australia's Next Top Model (shaddup) is the Fiesta, and Fords have been featured heavily in the current American series of the Amazing Race (not Ford Aus advertising yes, but it is shown at prime time over here and are often the same cars we get)
It doe happen, and there are definitely brands that advertise less than Ford. It's often a good mix of quality and quantity that matters, and Ford does well here (not saturating the market and making people sick of the ads- Kia, I'm looking at you!!!! )

How often do we see an ad for a G6ET or XR6T? Wonder if the series II will be different

Look in model and 'real' plane, tractor, truck/machinery mags, fashion & audio mags. Where people wishing/wanting willing to part with $5k for a watch, and $6k on cameras, 15k on home audio equipment. I picked up an antique tractor mag (looking at lathe/mills) and it had jags & porsche advertised. A couple of the fashion mags had audi/merc ads. The kayak magazine had scoobies and hang-overs. Ford Australia needs to step and and no longer be just "Ford Australia". Not an American car company, not an Australian car company. Become a global car company. Big fn deal the Falcon was designed and built here. The plastic, steel, icc (assembled here), wiring harness, material for the seats, exhaust/other sensors, bolts, brake pads, powertrain control module, the software the car was designed, engineered & tested with all imported. Most of the designers/engineers/plant people are immigrants or relatives of immigrants/emigrated ie imported-no dis-respect. It is an imported car just designed and assembled here. Ford Oz needs to step up and loose the "Ford Australia" tag and while it is at it remove all references to the American's in this current financial climate. America is an nation of collectively stupid people, look at their financial, gun control, environmental, and societal collected acts of stupidity. America's stupidity and Ford Australia's association with american's reflect badly on the Falcon/Territory and the current range of Ford's imported Euro/Asian & South American vehicles. Right now Ford=stupid americans. Aussies are waiting on Ford to come out and say yep the next cars, Falcon and Territory both will be based on a global vehicles. Both vehicles have a lifespan, Territory only a couple of years after the FG. Say both the current vehicles are excellent. Prove they are excellent and tell the public they just have to wait and see. Ford needs to step up and give some answers, something positive showing that the company locally has a future, not just skirt around the edges hoping the media continues to look the other way at how well Holden or the other manufacturers are not going. Or sit where they are now, slowly exporting their employees jobs to India, China and back to the US, loosing market share to sh*tty toyotas and 20-30 somethings buying vws and people buying cheap chinese/korean vehciles. Bob and your team - step up or bugger off. |

I know Ford advertise but they need to advertise they have AWARD winning cars. Not the standard advertising spiel.

Ford have won plenty of awards (deservedly so) this year and they are quiet as a mouse about it. Even if they just lightly rejigged their ads to add in the award winning and put the image across the bottom. Whatever, get it out there.

There is their advertising. This could be why no one wants to buy Ford, first off they don't know their products, because of a lack of advertising then when it comes to warranty claims or aftersales support they don't want anything to do with them. Maybe they should fix up those two issues? Maybe thats why they keep turning over profit because they're dodging 99% of warranty claims? |

mate if what you purport to be true, no one would buy a single car, i have no doubt they could lift their game on occasions but 99% of claims, let us not exaggerate. |

There's an ad out now for the "Limited Edition manual FG XR6". Saw it during the cricket telecast earlier

Ford need to find ways to promote their brand... People continue to buy Holden rubbish (documented) like Barina, Captiva and Cruze, which are far from class leaders. Why? Because it's a Holden. |

Last Month, Ford were only building Falcons to order so there's not many of those XR6s left and at $34,990 drive away, they will sell out quickly as buyers jump on the last cheap Falcons. Holden has paddocks full of unsold Commodores and Cruzes - that will be a carve up..... FGII has been in production for about two weeks so numbers should be building up nicely now.. Hopefully the only 2011 plated Falcons around in early January will all be FG II with good prices.. Quote:
that buyers want, not thousands of fleet specials no one has ordered. That's the big lesson for 2010-2011. Last edited by jpd80; 04-12-2011 at 01:45 PM. |

It all has to do with advertising. Not just your traditional advertising. Building concept cars that will probably never make production does increase sales in the long term. Holden have been doing it for years. Having holden's latest concept car on posters in teenagers bedrooms builds the brands image. Ten years later that teenager will probably be in the market for a new car and he will buy based on the image of his favourite car. Brand loyalty starts at an early age and as long as the company keeps promoting there product customers will keep coming back. |

.............. As for advertising, Ford do advertise. They have been advertising the cars that are private selling cars to private buyers. While the fleet cars get targeted to the fleet managers (like LPG Falcon). Ford have a limited budget and they have to be smart with their advertising dollar. Mind you they really don't have that much stock to sell compared to Holden.

thinking further into it , i'm sure people in the new car market dont really look for an add on tv , to make them walk into a ford dealer . if you think about it , ford and holden in australia dont need to advertise like say KIA OR SUZUKI , people wouldnt know what these brands have on offer off thier head KASANSKI anyone !!!. me myself am more liable to bypass unknown brands and lose their sales because i may be looking at a lesser deal with a ford . so really i like advertising , but lack of advertisinmeans ther must be pretty well known good products going at your local dealer really . ( when you put some thought into it ) .everyone knows what a ford is , if they dont want to consider a ford , i dont think an add will change that . |

ford has one major add going in direct relation to holdens adds it features there equivalent and is always on during prime time TV (news hour and the like)so i don't really see what the issue is here and imo they don't advertise XR falcons because people after an XR6/XR6T are enthusiasts as stated above. although they should be telling every one they won the award. although imo the $2 Grand Prix really boosted the ECOLPI status. and is what is driving sales for this car.

Ford don't need to advertise when you are selling a quality product..
We will leave the advertising to Holden and Korean companies, they need it..!!
