End Import Parity Pricing For LPG

LPG vehicles have cleaner emissions than petrol ones.

The Government has been providing subsidies for people to convert to LPG.

The pump price for LPG is inflated by Import Parity Pricing.

The recent huge price rises have made LPG a far less attractive alternative to petrol.

Time for the Government to remove Import Parity Pricing from LPG.

Somehow if a car can run on water, the powers at be would never allow it as the government would not be able to tax water as much as they can with

That would be logical, especially for a government which is trying to be an "example to the world".

Unfortunately this is not about logic or good ideas. It's about money. When money gets involved, all logic goes out window, just like K Rudd.

yes one would think if our Glorius leaders where serious about less pollution and and climate change they would be making the stuff as cheap as possible, and also enlarging incentives for solar not taking them away,

I'm not happy with the shift in pricing but I won't be pulling out my injected fas out of my territory as long as the gap in pricing is greater than 20%. Its ******** that we are getting gouged, but what can we do?

LPG is still cheaper if you have already converted. But the cost of conversion is no longer justifiable :(

That won't do a thing. It wouldn't decrease the price. If there was an uproar on the price of it, there would be a response close to this:

"The Gilard Government failed to contain LPG prices, however, with the cost of producing, buying, & importing, I'm afraid that there is nothing that this government can do. We have exhausted every possible avenue."

Just blame the initial rise on the previous government, then go ahead and find a reason why you can't do anything for it now to keep the money rolling in. Since most previous governments have sold off all their assets there is no longer any recurring or "passive" income. So they fin every little way to tax us. We get taxed on what we earn, spend, & buy. I agree. But, Good luck.

Hydrogen is the answer (I've seen the odd hydrogen bus around Perth).

Now all we need is someone to make a solar powered hydrogen producing machine which takes water from the ocean and makes Hydrogen, then compresses it into a tank. (I hope you're reading this oil companies. Be scared - real scared) That will mean that anyone can make their own fuel thanks to the sun, just like plants and photosynthesis. Try and tax that Gummit.

Where would you put a hydrogen tank in a car and what sort of range could you achieve?

A lot of people look at the often quoted West Texas index for crude and wonder why fuel and gas prices are much higher,
the reason os that our prices are set by the Asian TAPIS index set by OPEC which charges about 30% more for its products
on the open market. Most of our Crude goes to Asia and a different grade/type comes here to be used in our refineries.

At the well head, LPG is only about 3% of the content of narural gas so it's cost and price in the comunity is completely
different to the cost of the vast amounts of Natural gas sold off to Asia and once it all gone, we'll have nothing to sell them.

I think you'll find with respect to automotive LPG our lpg prices are based on Saudi Arabian contract price (Saudi CP) for propane and butance which has jumped dramatically recently. There is no parity for lpg with asian countries.

I realise you were referring to oil however the following explains what determines our automotive fuel prices where we fill up.

Hi. interesting thing in the petrol pricing link of yours that the ACCC mentions that 20% of our petrol is imported but they don't tell us that it is the fuel for the top end of Australia as it is cheaper to import it than ship from southern/eastern states where our major refineries are but the petrol price in Darwin is about 15 cpl higher than our Melbourne price Cheers MD

I remember seeing them blowing steam out the exhaust. They are a zero emissions vehicle.

Brisbane City council is using / switching to 500 CNG busses. Running costs and Carbon reduction would be impressive.

Back in the 90s when Company that installed a CNG refueling facility they had to allow access and sales to the public. So if you converted your vehicle you could refuel at the Brisbane Council Bus Depot at Carina as well as the Buranda Cab Depot(may have been more but I don't know where)

There were a few Taxis, buses and I think Finemore TPT had a few CNG vehicles running about. But the problem was the size of the vehicle's storage tanks, CNG needs about twice the tank capacity as LPG because it's still a gas and not liquefied.

BCC canned the idea after a few years and went back to diesel buses and the Cabs back to LPG. It was only a couple of years ago the BCC revisited the CNG idea with their Scania buses.

My diesel Landcruiser wagon would be great on CNG and there is a huge space underneath when the diesel tanks and spare tyre are removed and at 2.7 tonne the % of extra weight of the tanks is much less than that a normal car. Just the lack of available refueling places would make it impractical

Anyone seen TMC lately? I seen some black helicopters fly over his place and I haven't heard from him since.
