Hello all,
Just a quick question. Dare I say, I have always had a soft spot for the "New School" Holden Monaro. Especially the CV6 model. I have been doing a little research lately and cannot confirm whether or not they have Child Restraint Anchorage Points in the rear. Now I know they're only a 4 seater and not intended as a primary family vehicle but even the Focus Convertable has anchorage points. I spotted a Monaro today and had a quick glance and couldn't see any. But didn't look to closely in case the owner thought I may be up to no good. Anyone know if they do for sure or not?? Thanks in advance

restraint mounting points are required by ADR.
there may be a cover/clip over it. but there will be a mount in the parcel shelf. as for why you'd want a V6 monaro... WTF?

I used to own a CV8R and I cant recall an anchor point all though I cant be 100% sure
I think my daughter was in a booster seat when I got the car which doesnt require an anchor point |

Not sure but a mate bought a cv8z that had a baby seat in it. Don't buy a CV6.

Cv6 is like optioning the 3.2cfi when buying an EA new, why would you do it to yourself?
As for anchoring points I don't think they have them, being a much more "sports" orientated vehicle.

Also look up a HSV GTO. Very similar car. |

Very rare! Buy the v8 version, more collectable. They only ran for a few years before being deleted.
Only 12,000 units were made for the whole series 2001-2005 both v8 and supercharged 6 (excluding HSV and export programs).

Before I bought my 300 I looked at many different V8's including the Monaro.
But I came to the conclusion that I didn't want a 2 door as a daily. I still like the Monaro though. |

I dunno, I wouldn't say no to a CV6. The V6 would have to be the worst part of the whole car by far, but a V6 Monaro is a little quirky and different from the rest, not to mention extremely rare, which I like.

A V6 Monaro, when you're either too limp wristed, or dim witted to realise there's a reason it was only on sale a year or so before Holden stopped building them.
Why the hell would you want one, the V8 one is the collectable one while the V6 is the "why didn't you buy a V8" version. Usually followed by people laughing at you. |

It must have embarrased the crap out of Holden when their awesome supercharged V6 got outclassed by the povvo spec Barra 6 in the BA Falcon.

Im a Ford man through and through but if i was buying a late model car it would be the Monaro (v8). Best looking car of all the late models from any manufacturer. Just my opinion.

The Super6 was a decent motor. Remember this is the motor that Holden stated was slower than the old V8 but was not. Roller rockers and a smaller pulley (10-11psi) and you've got a motor that'll do 200rwkw for only about $1k worth of mods.

Interestingly - the CV6 and CV8 can be bought for about the same money ATM.
Just a quick look at CarSales - revealed that there is about 200+ CV8's for sale, and about 8 CV6's. Not sure why you would aim at the CV6 before the CV8 unless you have a 'want' for the 6cyl over the V8. But - I would check whether your carseat actually fits on the moulded rear seats at all. I had a problem with a VY Crewman that I had for work, which has basically upright rear seats. The booster seat(s) that I had for my kids simply wouldn't work with the angle on the seats - and I'm sure this is an issue with any 'crew-cab' style utes out there. Sure - you could always buy a different seat to suit (it's cheaper to buy a new seat than a different car of course) but just might pay to check that out. Best of luck! PS - I'd be looking for a CV8 - for under $18k not a bad buy.

Big-Glenn was on the money - if you raise the rear headrests, the anchor points are revealed (I just checked in mine).
Getting access to the rear of these cars isn't the easiest. The electric seats move pretty slow & with limited travel. You need to be pretty nimble. Reaching in to do up a child restraint wouldn't be too bad - but a baby capsule will really be awkward & hard on the back. You don't see many CV6's. They were usually purchased by people who loved the body shape - but weren't too interested in the engine/performance side of things. Who knows, they might appreciate in value better than the v8 versions (due to scarcity) - it's happened with other vehicles over the decades... |
