Hi everyone!
Don't want to start a war by asking this, but why do so many of you love silver, grey, an black cars? To me, these colours just look like the road, and blend in, and are just a bit, well, bland! I notice that so many of you out there really like these colours. Comments like "I'd love one in Ego!" and all the rest. For example a couple of my personal favourite cars on the forums, Linz's BFIII wagon and Dhru's FAWD BFII. Both are Ego! I love the cars and these guys do a fantastic job with them. But I really think that both cars would look better in a different colour! White could be called boring and bland too, but I actually do really like white. When it's clean it looks very clean and light, doesnt blend in so it can look really good (especially on an overcast day). Looks best though with red mud splattered down the sides! May be slightly biased with our cars being white too.. I'd always pick colours like Seduce and Breeze or Kinetic, or an orange or some kind of blue... anything but silvers greys and blacks! I just don't see why they appeal really. Maybe it's just me? I already know I'm pretty strange for much preferring cars with mudflaps in almost any case, and sedans with spoilers rather than without! Look forward to readin some reasons! |

Personally I like black as it's sort of secretive and quiet so to speak.
White also looks great in contrast, just look at those FG FPV's in white! But I think the main reason is resale value, they'd be wondering, 'what if no one else likes this colour' so they stick with the safe option.. But again, some people genuinely like the colour, my parents have two metallic grey cars, I love the colour. |

-Black looks sexy
-White looks clean -Silver is classy Aany other colous (besides your average reds and blues) are "seasonal" colours and after a year or two, the appeal wares off.

yup i owned a silver/grey car once. Never again!
Takes all the fun out of polishing/waxing! Nothing gives me the jollies like your car gleaming in the sun, and silver doesn't do that for me. That being said some cars like Merc's must be black, etc. Every one will have a different reason for their 'bland' car.

Personally I think the 'bland' colours generally show the lines and curves of the vehicle. Personally I think both the current falcon and commodore looks best in white. It compliments the shape.

My last four cars were;
1. White EA Fairmont Ghia brand new to wreckers after 430,000km, loved that car. 2. Silver 300ZX 3. Black 300ZX 4. White V35 Skyline and now of course, this... and I love the colour. Only colour I like as much is EGO especially in the G6ET! First time I went on a club cruise the young guys I met up with had the colours mentioned in OP and they said they couldn't stand bright colours like mine. I always thought the young'ns were the loud ones |

Im the same as you OP. Love white but cars like my parents BFII in silver, boring! Look into works carpark, the staff cars...Silver silver silver light gold borrrring!
When i see a breeze FG, bright orange XR5 or a bright green Scirocco R in the customer lot or wherever, tis a different story! At the end of the day, each to their own. I conclude that black, light grey, dark grey, white and all those colours/shades...they are "safe" colours to cater for everyone when buying new/onselling. Bright as cars would scare people off. But some colours/shades suit some cars, ill give them that much! E63 AMG anyone?

Ill agree sometimes the greys and blacks look good, but only sometimes.
Give me a 'fun' colour! Liked silver for a little while years ago, over it now. |

Well, My cars are Black, White & Grey. I like them because I think are classy colours.
Pottery Beige, your GT would be cool in khaki.

For me it comes down to the nature of the car, mostly.
A car that's going to get lots of use, think a family run around or high km work car, I'd go something easy to keep clean/looks clean - and did, silver. If it's a toy or your 'baby' then go something interesting and personal for sure. I tend to like the classy colours more if I think back through my cars, but having said that.. I did have the Regency Red Fairlane By Tickford over the Navy Blue and loved it! |

I've been wondering that for years. Personally I don't prefer a car that's not a 'colour' - white is for fridges, black is stupid in QLD Summer - silver is just asking for colour match problems and grey just blends in with the road.
Why the hell would you have some boring silvery grey when you could have Breeze???????

Mine is blue... but a weird shade of blue... and in the night I can 'vanish'
Also, 'bland' is in the eye of the beholder, I considered my old black V8 to have far more 'character' than my mates bright 'red' commodore. |

That light blue FG colour would have been my pick for new. Second hand Sensation was what I got.

After having a dark green, almost black coloured car, I'd never have another dark car. My next car is gonna be white. Easy to keep clean and maintain.
