Motorn Mag have put pics on their FB page of a Taurus SHO being brought in at Sydney airport. Actually looks like a nice car, interesting timing too.

When you read up on the Ford USA website about the features they get in cars over there, people should be getting excited about it....stuff like SYNC, torque vectoring control, intelligent access and push start (like even cheap stuff has had here for years), multi-contour seating for fatigue management, and heaps of other things that we simply never even got offered in the Falcon.
The AWD SHO is an awesome car. |

It was probably somewhere dusty.
and falcon and commodore were going strong - that would've been around the time they were working on/just releasing VT and AU - so things were looking up. EDIT: Now it is potentially a 'replacement'. |

Must be last minute, to airfreight a car is approximately 1000 more expensive than to sea freight one.

I'd be pretty bloody happy to own one. AWD? Yes friggin please!
FWD can stay over in the states though. Yes I am gutted that the locally made Falcon will be no more.... but the possibility that the Taurus will fill the hole has made me feel a whole lot better about the future of Ford Australia. No it's not perfect but what Falcon ever was? For those of you whinging about power, weight, speed, etc.... based on the link below, I reckon a tuned SHO with zorst and air intake is pretty quick enough for me on the open streets..... 4.3 seconds 0-100 and a 12.8 quarter???? Holy crap! I just hope the fuel consumption is reasonable. However do I really care about 1 or 2 or even 3 litres per 100k's.... definitely not. http://www.worldcarfans.com/11304255...ord-taurus-sho I wish Ford Australia the best of luck and hope that they have the vision to deliver the Australian public another era of great vehicles. I tell you what.... im actually looking forward to see what they deliver beyond 2016. Talk about exciting!!!!

I didn't know you were a bit of a gun with photoshop mate, you're a man of many talents... These Tourarses have a lot of kit which is very nice but they're heavy, inefficient power delivery by virtue of AWD and they have quite a different definition of SHO than I have. 272 kw's and about 465 nm's from memory driven through 4WD and propelling over 2,000 kg's, (from memory), doesn't sound like a recipe for super high performance to me. |

My point remains- they are enormously heavy cars and are heading the wrong direction for economy, handling, performance and tyre life. Last edited by madmelon; 28-05-2013 at 08:54 AM. |

I'll take a black 3.5 Ecoboost AWD one please. Plenty of tech and enough grunt to start playing with.

Crucially this car is also longer and wider than the Falcon. Some carparks these days are barely Falcon friendly. Moving a Taurus around would be just that smidge harder!

Underground car parks are a problem for large sedans, the world is getting more cramped each year in large cities.

Yes, the current Taurus is a flawed design. However, its still an impressively specced car and in SHO form accelerates pretty quickly and has good (not great) handling (or so I've read) The next D3 Taurus will address the weight and packaging issues that beset the current model.
Personally I think Taurus' greatest enemy is its cousin, the Fusion. |

But yeah, the world is getting cramped. I don't like it. What happens when I get the '63 compact I'll never be able to park, anywhere, ever.

They look good, I like the look of them and if this is the replacement for the Falcon then I hope they live up to the task, I just hope they drive as good as our beloved Falcon or better.
I think the next model Falcon FU, (the last) will resemble this Taurus in look's so when they do exchange in 2017 they will resemble themselves and it will be a soft transistion towards people. |

Looks good and full of good kit, I think we all have to embrace it.
I have read so many comments on how good the new Focus ST is and there seem to be many people swapping out of Falcons to get one. So as much as I love my GT I am also excited about what new cutting edge models Ford are now going to import into Australia. |

Wait for the "Taurus didn't work last time" comments. Please remember the last Taurus we saw was over 15 years ago.
We have copped it enough with Mondeo and also Falcon Ecoboost. People judging a car only an older model that is nothing it what it was.
