This is not news.
Ford said they would keep Australia as one of 3 global design hubs and end up with around 1,200 staff based there. GMH always said one out all out in 2017

And I noticed they mentioned most were youyangs employees leaving. Does that mean they are shutting it down despite the big turnaround a few months ago saying they were keeping it for further vehicle homolgolation for local conditions. You know....all the Chinese cars they'll be importing. I thought they just needed a shed to put the Holden badge on them. Not a race track for front wheel drive econoboxes Man Holden is confusing....... |

One minute you bang on about the billions Holden waste, now your slamming them for cutting numbers from a department which is winding down due to local manufacturing closure. What do you want them to do, keep paying them for sitting around doing nothing...lol You might not realise it but neither Holden, nor Ford will simply close the door one afternoon and that's it, they will slowly cut numbers until only the bloke switching the light off is left. Please grow up, your rants are pathetic. |

And secondly I'm not slamming them for having to let people go at all. That's expected. my comments are about holdens advertising, amoung other things that paint the picture of a fully funded/supported Holden 'here to stay' theme. Then if you even read the quoted article........it's full of saving face comments by Holden. And I'm assuming you think I'm stupid if you think I'd expect what you said to happen.wow Maybe you could comment on the lang lang situation as you seem to know it all. |

Its a shame you werent as critical of Ford over the years, because if enough so called Ford fans had been, they might have had to be accountable for what they did. Then they might not have been on the nose with the Australian motoring public like they are at this point. Last edited by DanielXR8; 19-09-2014 at 08:07 AM. |

I predict Holden will switch to the German Opel range in 2017.
Hopefully they drop the Commodore name completely, it doesn't deserve to be put on a FWD.

I have said before the VF2 will come out same time as the FGX and was shot down. Blind Freddy could see that the VF2 will come out same time as the FGX....lets hope Ford has some great advertising to counteract VF2....

Why would it make a difference? The Falcon hasn't been a serious competitor to the Commodore for years. No rush for Holden.

Funny how that sort of arrogance sadly won't stop them closing down 12 months later and with more red ink. Selling more has actually lost them more. And it's going to be Ford Aus. which will provide them with the greatest chance of staying in this country/industry.
