Sounds great, & could work, he has a proven track record with the Strasbourg plant. But only if he can sign GM on to assist in future developments.
"To me rear-wheel drive is premium". Have to agree. For me FWD is for transport, RWD is for sports & fun :-) Quote:

I'm sure GM will happily sell him the plant, but hell will freeze over before they let him use the Zeta platform. It would be a competitor to the new FWD POS Commodore.

True. But maybe if they focus on specialty models - the ute & coupe, GM could be persuaded.

If he can somehow cut GM in on a deal it could be promising. It would obviously be more a niche offering rather than volume sales.

Problem is......he's banking the whole thing on exactly why manufacturing is leaving in the first place.......govco support. This makes no sense to me. Who's going to buy a brand new never before heard of Aussie brand? In Aus or abroad. Sorry. Can't see it!

With the Elizabeth plant scheduled to close at the end of 2017, Dumarey told Motoring his plan needed to be put into action in the first half of 2016. He said he believed government support would be key to his plan’s success, and he apparently has strong support from South Australian independent senator Nick Xenophon.m many, including me. http://www.msn.com/en-au/news/austra...cid=spartanntp

Not just GM to convince - he needs government (taxpayers) support :-) . It is very much a sci-fi level project .
