I doubt they can put that all down to having a heavy engine at the front. Thought I haven't read it and I'm sure they say something about it. |

That just equals even more understeer on turn in with excessive throttle oversteer mid corner to exit - neither of which improve lap speed. : What they need to do is get the 5.4L sitting lower (not likely) reduce front end mass (not likely) or improve front end grip to remove push, and improve turn in i'd like to see a stock GT with a set of R-Spec tyres do 5 flying laps vs with the SP9000's and contrast the corner speed, apex hits, corner exit speeds and overall time. See if improved grip makes a large difference. Then throw on a set of variable rate shockers as well for the front end.

After reading this thread I have got myself very keen to purchase the Motor mag.
A couple things worth noting. I mentioned in another thread of my experiences driving the new BF's in Gt and F6 form, both auto. Coming out of a Mk1 GT-P, the BF GT 6spd auto, apart from the rush in a much lower first gear, overall it feels like a geniune slug. And my BA 4spd auto was definitely quicker. I think the Euro 111 compliance has pegged it back a little. The Typhoon was just a cannon and I am not suprised to see these results. Actually, I bought a BF Typhoon, I am completely stoked at these results. And somebody else mentioned the solid performance by the XR8. For a car that is nearly forgotten, its keeps punching out its opponent, the SS. Well done Ford

Must have been an Off GT, no way a Stock XR6T would beat a Stock GT for Top speed, lap time i can understand with the XR6T coming with decent brakes now.
What did the GT come outright? in the last two it has come 2nd Both times! |

Were the Typhoon & GT auto or manual? I'm not surprised to see the F6 come out on top though.

The Typhoon was the fastest accelerating car there...
5.79sec 0-100km/h 13.96 @ 167km/h 1/4 The HSV Clubsport R8 DTS was second... 5.89sec 0-100km/h 14.08 @ 161.7km/h 1/4 The FPV GT was something like... dead last... 6.96sec 0-100km/h 14.95 @ 157.7km/h 1/4 Why is it trapping less then an XR6 Turbo by a few km/h, and well, that's some ИИИИ poor times. F6 Typhoon is without doubt the absolute king.

Great news for the Ford Turbo's but all the times appear slow, even the F6's (and especially the GT's). They must be doing them with a full tank or fuel and the Brady Bunch on board.

Unfortunately, the difference in throwing a GT into a hard braking turn & throwing an XR6T into the same is pretty massive. Even with the old brakes, the XR6T (XR6 too) was a much better handling package when you got cranky. There's probably half a dozen turns at Winton that the GT "push" would have struggled with & the straight is not overly long either. I'd have thought the XR's & Phoon would have carried a good deal more speed onto the straight to get that trap time. Pity they don't sound right ;)

Also noticed our 'old' BOSS 260 XR8 appears to hold it's own against the 'new 'SS 6 ltr. (top speed wise)

Just looked at Steffo's post on the times, but aren't those the same times that Motor got from the last Typhoon(auto)/Clubsport(manual) comparo?
