I was talking to a bloke today who had a 97 xh ute which has clocked up 650,000k's with 1 auto trans and 2 head gaskets he has been around Australia a couple times in it towing his caravan it is starting to look a bit shabby now but that is pretty good going interesting to hear what sort of k's others have done in there vehicles past or present.

I had an 88 EA Fairmont Ghia 3.9 multi point which i gave to my father when i got the AU wagon which he had around the other night with 370,000k's - one head at 180,000 and 2 steering racks now.
Good going considering i had this car on my P's which was not babied at all :evilsasmo

A friend of mine that owns a taxi, updated to a new BF last month. When he went to the dealership the salesman asked him if he had a trade,my friend said that he didn't think that they would be inerested in a 99 AU series 1 with 1.45million kays on it. In the 7 years that he had it, he replaced the motor twice and transmision 5 times. He said it was the best cab that he has had in 24 years in the industry.

thats impressive all around for a stop start vehicle, for the body to hold up over our crappy roads for that distance is pretty good

Similar situation here , Bro-in-Law was a Cab owner in Canberra , ran an XF . 750,000k's on the first motor & a bit over 600,000k's on the second motor when he sold it. It was dedicated Gas , might explain the mileage .

Only times it was off the road was once a week between 12 -2pm Sat for an oil change & check . He'd drive it from 6am-6pm & 2 other drivers shared the other 12 hours . Amazing run for an XF ...

My XB has 134,000k's on it :

Absolutely amazing!

Had many issues with it? I'm guessing at least a few head gaskets!

had a EA 11 wagon for a run a round. Bought it of a cabbie mate at 630,000ks sold it to another mate with 760,000k's . It ran straight gas, the 4 speed auto died early on so it went back to a B/W 40 which is still fine. It had Flashlube fitted from the start and only replaced 1 head gasket, no other head or engine work. It now does regular runs between Sydney and Adelaide and has gone over 1,000,000km's and still going!

Thats unreal guys the amount of k's some cars do are unreal i am not being bias but i think the fords seem to hold up well to get the amount of k's which have been mentioned so far.A work mate of mine has a Toyota Hilux diesal which has clocked over 500,000 k's with only a few hassles along the way he has had it for 10yrs and cant bare to get rid of it.

My Dad is a territory manager (Vic/SA), for a major Dairy. He drives everywhere, they are so tight... No air travel.. He doesn't mind getting paid to drive to Adelaide..

My cousin brought my dad's company car in August 06 - a bargain at $3000....

1998 AU Forte Sedan. Its done 651,000kms.

Major problems:

1 x head gasket
1 x 4 speed auto tranny @ 106,000kms
2 x alternators
3 x radiators

He had it from new, its a bit rough at idle these days. But considering the life its had... I think he did well.

My old man runs a charter company, his first toyota commuter had its life as a taxi and charter bus had over 500,000 before it started over heating, kept driving it for 4 months, replaced head gasket with no rebuild, lasted another 300,000, then he got a newer model, which lived its life only as a charter bus that had 650,000 on it before he had it reconditioned, still going strong now, He got a 2005 commuter in november last year, picked it up on a thursday was back for the 2000km service on monday, its 1 year coming up and has 65,000 on the clock.

He has been in the transport industry since the 70's , spent a few years in the middle as a shop-fitter rep so also a bit of travelling...he reckons he has in excess of 5 million kms under his belt....I have a LONG way to go :hihi:

I recently sold my 93 ED Falcon to my missus, with 79,000k's on it... barely run in ;)

My current Fairlane just clicked over 200,000k's. Its been maintained properly from new and being a V8 it'll keep going for ages.

365 000 on our old 1994 laser nothing ever done to the engine, only a small oil leak through the head gasket. Only problem we really had was with the radiator and thermostat each replaced once. Gave it to my baby sister when we bought the XR6 last year. Her piece of @#$@ husband killed it in about 3 months.

My old mans AUII taxi had done just over 650,000 when he upgraded to his bf. The old taxi had never had the rocker cover off. How goods that?! Never shat a tranny, only a few crank seals at the front. I still see it driving around.

I've had my Ea for about 3yrs its now got 355000 clicks on it. In that time its been up the a** of another car, (lucky I'm a panel beater) its had 5 head gaskets, 2 heads, a reco'd motor, a power steering pump, new radiator, and various seals rplaced, lots of them! And now the power steering rack is buggered.

Now on the other hand, my XF ute has a broken ring, oil pi***** out everywhere, have to clean the spark plug from oil every couple of days, but away she goes. Been running like this for about 6months now. Its unbeleivable what a blue oval can do ;) (new motor is getting built right now!)

But the old ZD never a problem!!!

The 84 XE has only 162,000kms on it when I last saw it. It's being stored at my brothers house and he has probably put a few more on it, so it might be pushing 163,000km now. Only work ever done to that is a few hoses, thermostat and an alternator. The alternator didn't need replacing as that didn't fix the problem I was troubleshooting.

The EL has 202,000kms on it. All that it has ever had done to it is a new head at 198,000kms. Nothing else has been replaced on it apart from general wear and tear. I need to get stuck in to the front suspension and get some new shocks and bushes, and the recirculated air doesn't work. It's spent the last 3 years travelling crappy SA country roads and still holding on.

The Peugeot has just over 6,000kms on it. Still too new!

My dads xf clocked over 550,000kms. Dont know how many kays it had done before he got it. Probably around 100,000. He never changed an engine or gearbox but they were both stuffed by the time he got rid of it.

My ef has done 305,000 and is still running strong. I got it at 240,000 and sold it at 302,000 to my housemate

My BA has 11800. Not even run in.

V8GLI, I know this is off topic but I love your avatar. Kristin Kreuk is incredibly hot. She's currently my desktop wallpaper.

Back on topic, I've done 230,000 so it's not low but not high.

My mum first bought my EA in 1994. It had 214,000 kms on the clock. When she bought it the odometer stopped working in the same year. She does roughly 40,000 kms a year. I bought it two years ago and replaced the instrument panel with a working odometer, and I do around the 70,000 mark each year in that thing. I'd estimate that it's at about 700,000 roughly. GO THE EA! :sm_headba

2 Head gaskets
Original block
1 Gearbox
Numerous clutches
Couple of sensors here and there.
Regular oil changes
It's still going strong
