Default How often do you get a speeding fine?

If this is a re-post, please let me know, I did a search and couldn't find anything (recent anyway) - but if it's a double up, just delete this one. I'm trying to beat my Turbo I6 v V8 poll thread :P

How often do you get a speeding fine?

I was just reading some of the other threads, and I must be really lucky or QLD / Nth NSW is easier to get away with stuff perhaps. In over 7 years and 350,000km of driving, I've been fine free, and I'm not a dangerous driver, but I'm no saint and I regularly exceed the speed limit (mostly on freeways).

I recieved one fine in the 2nd week I had my licence (early 99 if I remember correctly), but since then, averaging about 50,000km a year, I've never recieved another one, and speed cameras stick out from a mile away (esspecially in NSW with all the warnings), even mobile motorbikes are easy enough to notice in NSW or QLD, so maybe a lot of the horror stories are from VIC where I understand things are worse.

Anyway, I was just curious, how often everyone recieves a fine. I tried to allow the poll to cover everyone. Bare in mind, it's like an average of what you've experienced since you've been driving...

Please no "holier than thou" comments or anything, which I'm sure will crop up eventually - it's not a "do you think speeding is ok" thread or a thread to debate safe speeding etc Just want to see how often most of us are getting pinged.

I've gotten 4 in 1 year, you have to narrow the poll options.

on average I'd say I have 1 bad year in 4. 2 years ago was the bad year. Nothing for years before it, nothing for the 2 years after.. 9 points in the 1 bad year though. Go figure.

it's been 6 years since i got my P's, so in 6 years of driving "without supervision" i havn't had a ticket for anything (just two parking fines) and that's averaging 45000k's. In Victoria aswell.

It's been about 4 and a half years since my one and only speeding fine. It was 2002, the year I got my P-plates. These days I'm basically on a clean slate, due to no demerit points.

I have done enough points in a year to lose my license, since then I went ten years without one,but have had 3 in the last 2-1/2 years two for one point and one for 3,all for under 15kms over, spewing that they changed 15 and under from 1 point to 3..

I think you'll find that they kept 0-10 over as 1 point, and 10 to 15 as 3.

I have had my license now for 9 years. I have only got one speeding fine five years ago on Australia Day. I was caught doing 66 in a 60 zone. That weekend was a double points/fine weekend.

I voted 1 every 5 years, but it was more like 3 in 7 years (1 in 1987, 2 in 1994) and none in the last 12.

My last one was probably 6 or 7 years ago which is pretty surprising considering I drive safely rather then to what ever particular number is randomly stuck on a sign post.

I got done for 20-30 2 months ago... I slowed down a lot since then. If you baby your car you can get an extra 150k's / tank!

I can't believe how many people say they were never caught! - that's amazing.

I average out one every couple of years. I got a few when I first started. then I had about 4 years with nothing until the 60 zones changed into 50 zones. When that happened I got 3 speed camera infringements within 2 weeks! 61, 62, and 65. I've only had one more since then - got 11 out of 12 points now.

It's not too bad in Tassie - we get a nice 10% buffer to allow for speedo variances and they always use the same spots (to death mind you) so keeping it to a minimum isn't too hard.
