Hi guys, merry xmas to all and a safe journey to all those on the road this holiday season!
Don't ya just love a christmas chin wag around the barbie. Conversation always seems to make its way around to cars within our extended family. You could say its a gathering of who's bought what and ends up more like an edition of Wheels magazine with every comment and description given to all types of machines. I must admit, the majority of them are Holden people, which just makes me more determined to set the record straight. Things were going fine until we got on to old school V8's and thats when the sh.it really hit the fan. My nephew is currently doing up a Torana LH and currently runs a carbied VN 5.0l. He was telling me that he could stroke it to 388 c.i. with just a crank and rods off the shelf. I was surprised by this as i thought a 355c.i. was a stroked 5.0l and it was a 350chev that could be opened to 383c.i. not 388c.i. Next i was told that a 351clevo could be stroked to 460c.i. WTF, isnt a 351 already a stroked 302, which would make 460 c.i. a 50% increase in displacement? Could someone shed some light on this so i can stick it up em at new years |

AFAIK the 351 clevos can only be stroked to 377ci but I could be wrong.
The 460ci motors are a different motor in themselves. Nothing really to do with the clevos. can others confirm this? Im not up with the Holden jarg so I cant help u out there.

Clevos stroke to 408, 393 is most common nowadays. 460 is not possible, tell him he's dreaming, even better, ask who he knows that has one.
460 is possible with an aftermarket block, but then it's technically a clevor. AFAIK a 308 can go 355. The new come racing block modeled on the 308 can go to 400ci. I gave up on car talk at family bbq's, too mean Holden (read bogans) fans, they have no clue and not a decent Holden amongst them to put up for a run, except a genuine XU1, but that is no competition. : Last edited by Falcon Coupe; 26-12-2006 at 09:26 PM.
