How up todate ate the sales figures everyone is quoting?
Just dropping the kids off I saw 3 current model Falcons. 2 of them EcoLPI. 1 XR and 1 G6. I know I'm in Ford central here but I think more are being sold than has been suggested. |

They deserve to be selling more - the Falcon is a quality product. But even fleets aren't helping sales figures atm. I have heard that private sales only of the Falcon have it down in the rankings around 50th, near the Skoda Superb....
It's pretty much a case of Ford shutting the gate after the horse bolting with the launch of the ecoboost engine: should've happened years ago (a turbo 4 in the Falcon), maybe with the launch of the BA (even if the XR5 turbo engine was used at the time?) On top of this, Joe Public has no idea the Ecoboost exists - virtually no tv ads, nothing in print media - just an 'ECOBOOST' sticker across Falcon V8 Super Cars, which doesn't tell the public much.... That said, the silky I6 in turbo of n/a form, the LPG I6 and the turbo 4 are all great engines that each give the Falcon a different personality and feel to drive. It's just that once traditional buyers have abandoned the car in private sales - the Falcon nameplate has zero apsirational quality in 2012: people are buying VWs, Mazda 6s, Camrys etc now instead. The Falcon is also a victim of its own reliability - Joe Public just sees them as taxis as there are so many on the road in this form.... enthusiasts know better of course, but XR6/GTP sales can't prop up the car. Anyways, lets hope the new LPG and turbo 4 lift sales as fleets go after them so all those Aussie jobs can be saved... |

Vfacts site makes for depressing reading, for example:
"3 April 2012, By RON HAMMERTON AMBITIOUS importer Nissan outsold local manufacturer Ford for the first time last month as the Blue Oval brand slipped to sixth place for the first time in its history." Ford's slipped to a market share of less than 8% too. Good news is the Territory increased sales. Lets hope the LPG and EB change those figures around in 6 months time.... as long as Ford lets the public know they are out there! |

As many have said, its all about advertising/promotion. If punters dont know about it how can they be expected to buy it. The ppl on these forums are enthusiasts, they know Ford goings on inside out.
But Im sure the guys are Ford mgmt arent as dumb we we think. They operate within the budget they get. |

O goodie, another topic putting the Falcon down!! If you want sales figure look at the Vfact topics that come up every month or the Tech page on this website..
I say lets shut this one down, before all the negative people come on board!! This is meant to be FORD forums.. |

But really if Eco Boost is a success then what does that that mean to the I6?

Reintroduce the tariffs. With chinas car makers gearing up to build world class cars within the next ten years, they'll need all the help they can get.
I'll always buy an Aussie made car. If that's Holden, Toyota or Ford. Once they are gone. They're not coming back.

Also what advantage is there in Ford giving them accurate figures? It's a bit of a noob question I know but the flagging falcon sales figures encouraged me to buy falcon... Last edited by drwevil; 22-05-2012 at 04:59 PM. |

And the Ecoboost is being built in such tiny numbers its never going to have much of an effect on I6 sales anyway, especially because its not available on Territory, XR or ute, nor does it have an LPG version. So its pretty limited. |

the numbers are spot on when you take into account that they are averaGed over months at a time as certain registrations can fuDge numbers sometimes. But these small numbers by no means show the quality of the product. Its probably the best overall sedan ever made or sold in aus and for many reasons..longterm and short..not enough people care of know about the knew falcon products...YET

I'm getting a bit concerned as I have, as yet, not seen ANY new gen Falcons on the street, aside from police and taxis.
Does anyone have any info on whether the new Falcon is selling well because I haven't seen any private ones on the street yet? |

Who cares what people are seeing on the streets in there part of the world..
Sales data will tell us what is out there.. Falcon FGII has been selling around 1,000 per month. It has been on the market for 7-8 months (????). Therefore there are 7-8000 aprrox out there in Australia somewhere!! Give or take some that have been writen off or not turelly sold to customers.. |

Those that I saw had Z plates so sold fairly recently.
Those sales figures, the company I work for submit similar figures to research groups and I am pretty sure they aren't 100 accurate. Out the front of my work there are currently 3 G6E z plated ... Probably means nothing.... |
