If fault is under dispute? You have to pay your excess after your cars repaired. Once the dispute has ended and blame has been decided upon. Then you will get your excess back if you where deemed not at fault.
I've been through the process many times before (no fault of mine). The joys of people who don't respect other peoples property. My gripe is the repair is supposed to be as good as factory and not devalue your car. Both my cars were devalued considerably after the accidents via the insurer. I'm no longer insured with them. They can kiss my ****.
