Thieves on the Gold Coast have stolen a pair of valuable vintage Toranas after failing in their bid to steal a Hyundai
Chris Wilson From: The Courier-Mail November 17, 2010 3:50PM THIEVES on the Gold Coast, having failed in their attempts to steal a Hyundai Excel, were forced to drive away with a couple of consolation prizes a pair of valuable classic Holden Toranas. Police are appealing for assistance to locate the collectible cars - one orange and one grey and black 1972 XU1 Toranas - the same model that Australian motor racing legend Peter Brock drove to his first Bathurst win at Mount Panorama in 1972. Police believe that the offenders jimmied open a back door at the Pacific Pines residence, stealing electrical equipment, entertainment systems and jewellery before finding the vehicle keys. They tried to steal the Hyundai Excel, before leaving it and making off with the two classic Toranas, estimated to be worth a total of $100,000.
