On the topic of advertising, there lies your answer. Ford get the fundamentals of car development right and seemingly most of everything else wrong. Sales speak for themselves.

Which is fine until a sales turnaround happens and then it's seen as some kind of unscripted miracle...
We have to understand that Ford is working with tiny budgets and basically on bread and water..
