Holden means a great deal to China

Iwas reading the local rag today and it had an artical on cars built in Australia verses imported..75% of ALL CARS sold here are IMPORTED..Only 1 in 10 are large cars..Falcon sell only 12%to private buyers 88% to fleet etc.. Holden 19% private 81% fleet..These are VERY disturbing figures..

But all them fleets end up in our hands. The ones that can't offord the $40,000 or just less buy them 6 months later with $10,000 or more off bargin.

I find it hard too find Australian made, The tricks are out there and it's tuff too get past what looks like it and is it.

I know the plant it use to be owned by Ford till they sold it for outsourcing to Venture (well that's the name on there). The wheels come from china (ahh i remember the line stopping because the shipment of RTV rims from china didn't come in), all the windows bought through pilkington but are from china, actuators and latches Australian supplier but made in china, the entire steering lock come from Scandinavia. But there are aussie companies that still outsource here in oz.

I'm not saying Holden are any better, there worse! Bloody Toyota are more Aussie than Holden is but don't expect Ford to be any better. They have a policy of buying from Australia if the quality and price arnt much more (per unit) than importing.

I was mad when i bought a Samsung DVD player in 2000 for $600 and my mate went too the same place and bought one the same 4 weeks later for $400 :

I don't see how Ford cutting the price of the XR8 is any different to Holden dropping the price of the SS, even though they just changed the badge from SV8. Ford just had to follow suit, but at least they didn't remove the content and call it something it isn't.

Strangely though one Ford dealer is advertising a BF XR8 demo for a higher price than a BFII XR8 is new.

If you think the ss is a sv8 re badge you didnt look hard enough.

And if you think the BF XR8 being more expensive then the new model is fine then you didn't understand what i was saying.

No Slick, as a general rule I don't bargain, I will ask if thats their final offer, if it is and if I find that excessive I'll just walk. I really cant be bothered haggling over a few bucks - got better things in my life to do.
