I'd be in for sure.
As others have said....it's a long way off.....but who knows, by that time we may also be joined by new mustang owners on the way down to broady! The 75th anniversary cruise in April 2000 was massive.....this has the potential to be monumental...... Albeit for all the wrong reasons. |

It will need to be monumental - half a century in the making!

The last image of Ford manufacturing in this country on the last day should not be the clique footage of a despondent group of people in fluro jackets and overalls walking out the side door and making their way to the car park.

Have always wanted to drive across Australia, looks like I have a good reason and a date set now.
Discussed with my better half and she would love to come too...just have to avoid knocking her up before then! I'd love to see the workers off properly on the final day the Falcon is made, by bringing my car back to where it was built.

It would be nice if Ford Aus would organise something like it, but how much better would it be for us Falcon owners and Australian Ford owner fans to do this and organise this our selves. Show the country and the world how much pride we have always had in our home grown automobile!
Im 100% in.

Would love to be a part of this.
I can imagine big numbers, and would only be forever disappointed I was not involved |

But perhaps a Facebook event could be created to help publicise a 2016 cruise to either Geelong or Campbellfield. AFF has a Facebook like page, maybe whoever controls it could start the event and be posted on other Ford pages like Street Fords or something. I'm looking at the comments on that "Save The Falcon Tour" event and see an attempt to organise a protest rally outside Ford HQ. |

No it should be thousands of people cheering them as they leave for the last time. They deserve it.

BATHURST??? I am in Perth, and I will gladly drive my dodgy AU all the way across Australia to any properly organised “Save the Falcon” rally. I simply cannot comprehend how they possibly thought making a pilgrimage to the Bathurst weekend was a great idea? Do they have any comprehension of how 99.99% of the Australian populace views the Bathurst weekend? Majority of Australians already believe that the only people who drive Falcons are Taxis and Hoons. What do they propose for the highlight of this “tour”? How about we bash anyone not driving a Falcon and burn their cars? THAT should convince Ford to change their mind.

Forget Ford NA (North America) and yes maybe even Ford Australia, this is not about them.
If I understand Kable72's original post, the event, should it go ahead, and I for one will do my share to try to get North Australia down there, is a way to say thank you to the current workers and those of the past for all they have done to make a great car. I couldn't think of anything better than on the last day of production to finish up and, on leaving the factory, having thousands of people who you don't even know cheer you off as a thank you for your part in their lives. Now if this delays or stops the shutdown "WOW" power to the people. If not it is going to be one hell of a farewell party that would make the world sit up and listen for the passion shown by Australians, and, I don't mean people going around shouting Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi. Just another of an Ol' Man's thoughts. Cheers Vincenzo

Absolutely keen on this! Hopefully I will own an fh gte or f6e by then aswell as the turbs.
Brilliant idea and I think the idea floated of being at the gates when the ford production guys walk out from work one last time (to applause and a cheerful crowd of blue yobbos) could definitely lift their spirits! Count me in!

And also the Friday before the Bathurst weekend......that will make for an interesting dilemma for a lot of Ford fans, I would imagine.
I have touched base with the Director's of this forum to see if they are able to get some information form Ford themselves with respect to any possibility of their assistance or involvement in a shut down gathering. I am yet to hear anything back at this stage. Certainly one possibility would be to actually have a members great the workers as they leave the site for the last time on the Friday afternoon. The celebrations could then continue on into the weekend itself. A lot of possibilities and a lot of work would need to be done to even think about pulling something like this off properly. Craig H
