Basically these are not set up for carrying loads, base models of each would be better suited.
You are right, and in reality the main issue is the hardlid. I've got an E3 Maloo and loaded it right up from time to time (helping people move etc and picking up furniture etc) and the biggest pain in the a$$ is the hardlid..

That being said the tray is a lot more useful than any of the dual cab utes I've had.

Look at the base model Holden ute's capacity.

One of the two marquees has a capacity due to tyres.

Not the context of the discussion, the performance versions are discussed here.

Not sure how it compares to the older R8s for power, but I do recall seeing a Patrol destroy one at the drags, so haven't been impressed by the R8s.

If there's a Patrol at the drags destroying R8s then chances are it would destroy a lot of things and ain't no normal patrol... Haha

These new supercharged HSVs performance wise are quick.. Splitting hairs between them and Miami powered Falcons

To help put that into context, what were the specs on that Patrol as I guessing you mean it was running a stock engine and driveline and exactly what model R8?

If I had the money and opportunity to buy one of these I would, even the SSV Redline utes look awesome in the flesh and they sound bloody insane too!
I bleed blue but Ford's offering in a ute, let alone a V8 one is quite abysmal and I feel the FG-X simply wouldn't do it for me when there is a better product out there.

I have always though the Maloo's are mostly performance orientated with carry on baggage rather than being a workhorse. The money is better spent elsewhere if you want to fill the tray with concrete. Why rough up such a vehicle.

The Patrol may have had some work done... someone mentioned Duramax.
And yeah, it was definitely one of the fastest cars on the day. By the same token, the R8 (and most of the newer cars bar the
Camaro) was one of the slowest.
