I’ve seen the car three weeks ago when ute-hunting. Rego is about to expire, and the nearside rear wheel bearing has collapsed - undriveable. Right park light is blown. It’s a smoker’s car, with about 245K. These two items are all that’s required for rego. But otherwise, it’s a real bargain. 3/4 tonne LPG two seater, plenty of tread on neat 17” aftermarket wheels, receiver hitch, recently replaced converter, coil packs, plugs, name brand battery. Tidy under the bonnet. Driver’s seat base is plump and interior trim undamaged. Tonneau properly fitted around the sports bar. One original key, one clone. Rear brakes barely driven, fronts have plenty of meat. Owner has mature attitude. Why do I feel sorry for the bloke? Firstly he’s lost his job due to CV. Secondly he’s a New Australian and obviously wants to fit in; could have been driving a clapped-out Hilux or Bravo but has made an effort (and cost sacrifice) well beyond that. And finally, he’s not mechanically handy so people have been stringing him along about the diff repair. (Pull it down, wash out the bearing debris, reassemble with new wheel bearing and you’re good to go - could even be done kerbside.) I’m not promoting this for any gain, the chap doesn’t even know I’ve written it up. But this one is a bargain if someone wants a cheap easy fix ute, or a P-plater’s car. Can one of you please buy it before I end up with three utes? |
