You don't need a Snapon truck either, this one came from a wrecking yard in Sydney swapped a pantec onto it and built it up from there. I gave myself a budget of 15K to build it up.

when I used to work in the aftermarket auto parts retail sector, during the terrorist season I'd get asked at least once a day why there wasn't a "caravan repair workshop" in town..... the concept that such a business would go gangbusters for 3-4 months of a year and then fall flat on its face seemed to be beyond belief to the nomad hordes!

I know some members here are taking the p*** out of us grey nomads here but your comment suggests to me you are one completely misguided fool especially with the spending comment. Caravaners contribute immensely to regional/outback towns economies more than most other tourists, after all we are spending the kids inheritances. Cheers from one grumpy pain in the a** grey nomad. |

There's a bit of a trend out there that goes beyond this thread, plenty of people have noticed it and it's in the mainstream media.
https://www.amazon.com/Generation-So.../dp/0316395781 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wh6hesHk6yE the comments on the youtube vid, ouch!

Anyway, now that winter is nearly over the Grey Nomads will be heading back down south or towards the coast away from the inland heat. And the outback will (apparently) loose the magnificence and bestowed riches of the Grey Nomads until next winter …. |

Can you sell your receipt or memory of your hotel stay?
A caravanner can sell their van at the end of their time with it recouping a large percentage of the outlay. Last I looked there wasn't too many buildings in all the best places in Australia. Oh, and for the record, I cycle as well.

There's plenty of hotels in Melbourne and Sydney - don't worry about the rest of the country, there's a reason why these two cities are growing the most. A caravanner can sell their van at the end of the trip for 25% of what they paid for it. |

Resale on vans is surprisingly good.
Sydney and Melbourne are two very big reasons to go and see the rest of Australia. The bits where people are scarce.

Caravans?? Aparently people can fly anywhere in two hours sell the van but still gotta own a tow vehicle, cop the depreciation and pay the operating costs and tow the thing to wherever your headed . To each their own. I’d rather camping ..and caravans ain’t camping. It’s like calling Barry Manilow a rock star

Many do so it seems. Hey it’s a free world , if ol Bazza rocks someones world then cool as. But others are free to have a giggle. I’m sure there’s a great episode of “I shouldn’t be alive” in there...how I survived the lack of a good latte!

This thread is like a good comedy series in telly. I'm actually coming every day looking forward to the laughs. Well one and much thanks.
To those of you taking offense, there are more important things in life to worry about...Obviously if it isn't my opinion it doesn't matter at all... |
