Finally saw one. Parked up in Hillary's but had that pukey grey colour.

Will try to post photos later...things to do.

I’m pretty sure you’re being sarcastic, but if not I’d like to point out that I highly doubt that Mercedes would copy the design of a car which received backlash when revealed for being butt ugly.

I wasn't being sarcastic at all.

I would say (a) MB designers would have been well aware of the AU Falcon, despite it being a vehicle from an entirely different market and demographic; and (b) the AU design was well ahead of it's time, and parts of it could easily be lifted and re-used in the future.

Except that some Benz's had a similar triangular tail light in '97

Will this become a classic like the series 6 Mazda RX7 or will it go the way of the Nissan 200SX? So many great Jap/Korean cars have been released over the years which virtually disappear. I have been next to these cars on the road and not realised straight away what it is which is not uncommon with many new designs these days. I would like to see one in white with some silver alloys that fill the guards and no stripes or stickers. Obviously Ford biased, but I would buy a 2nd hand FG-X for $50k.

I've personally seen 2 Stingers... And not a single New Commodore.

If I was interested in a new, good 4 door performance sedan, I'd be a fool to discount it.

So much for these being the saviour of rwd performance. They hardly seem to be setting the world on fire. It seems much of the initial hype has died down. In fact I have seen many more Opel Commodores getting around than these.

Seen more Sprints than Stingers. Guess not enough people can stomach driving around a car with a badge that wouldn’t look out of place at the reject shop

Would have been good to see a before and after qm test on that stinger.
Anybody had one at the drags?
Edit that,i saw one test of the stinger vs the ssv vf and the stinger apparently did 12.79,not sure how they timed that.

I was thinking the same thing. People say that they never see new Commodores around, well I see at least 4 Commodores for every Stinger I see.
I can't see many RWD Commodore and Falcon owners transferring to a Kia. Most probably ended up looking at dual cabs like everyone else.

Yes so many great jap cars released over the years. But what are these great Korean cars that have been released?

Don’t offend classic Japanese greats by using “Jap/Korean” like they are at all similar.

They look great from a distance. I kept passing a blue one parked at a local dealer, and tried to figure out what it was.
Having seen them up close, the tail light extension is awful, and I hadn't noticed the rear door until reading this thread, but that's dreadful as well.

I have friends in Finland that are automotive journalists, and have driven one for review purposes. They raved about it, but I'm still not sold.

Well I'd choose a Kia Stinger over a dual cab any day.

BTW - finally found the song that appears in the TV ad for the Stinger:
