Angry It's a Pity Some Members On here Don't Pay Up

I used to sell things on the forums to people on the basis that they could take the item/s and sort themselves out and pay if they're happy 100% with what they got. On some occasions I have happily taken the item back no questions asked.

But there's a minority who obviously can't handle such responsibility and as we stand at least three members on here owe me money and despite saying they had sent/were sending the payments I have received nothing. And the silence is deafening.

So, have a think about how this place should run because we should be able to trust each other in making the world of Ford ownership better.

I am stopping short of naming people but I suggest that members get cashish up front because the old days are gone.

Thats pathetic that people do that, especially members of this forum. Hope it gets sorted out Pete. I agree if you still don't get a response in a week name them so the rest of us know not to sell anything to them.

I've heard some pretty shocking stories, in particular someone who STOLE from an other member.

Believe me, I won't be dealing with you mate.

Unfortunately not all people are honest. I've been caught up in a silmilar situation in the past but luckily it was resolved (after I had someone hunt them down to get the money!)

It really shouldn't come to this. To those who owe money... do the right thing!

Yeah thats pretty disappointing.

So let me get this straight, you sent the items to the buyer without them depositing cash into your account?

Very disappointing. Sounds like the said ppl have had more than one opportunity to rectify the matter.... would almost be time to name names surely?

Failure to pay does little for a community who, generally, does great things to help one another.

Damn internet trading is dodgy. Its so easy for someone to be ripped off. Both the seller and the buyer are at risk. Its hard to know who to trust these days.

I have been lucky. But I have also payed $1900 for an engine I dont have yet.

that is disgusting...i am disappointed to hear of all these stories but not suprised. Seems some people out there like to take advantage of the trust of others. I for one am very reluctant to buy from others on forums unless I have met them personally or they are high up in the chain. Pete i hope it is all sorted out soon and you get your money.

I proposed a buyer feedback link in our profile but it sort of fell flat.

http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=10289

Another good idea we could try is similiar to the way a few members on OCAU have 'trades' listed in there signatures,
for example look at my signature to give you the gist...

Everyone that ive delt with on the forums so far have been great. I even had one Member drive down from the other side of Melbourne to Geelong, to drop off an engine. Even before i had met him.

And ive had games etc sent to me, along with me forwarding on games. Shareware of course... It is a community, and should be treated as such.

AP, give it a week... the rest of us need to know who to avoid.

me too, i dont know if it is implemented on this forum, but other forums ive been on require a minimum amount of posts before you can list a for sale advertisement......

other than that, i really try and deal with people i know (or think i know ), or i try and pick up the item and pay on the spot...

i know i owe a few mates some money, im making my best effort to pay them back and tehy're cool with that (i think )

AP, hope ya get ya cashish....... and as said in a week name names

I have personaly sold upwards of 10, and baught 6 or so items of the FF and AFF for sale forums. It looks as though i have done well, only having one deal semi-soured due to semi defective parts.

Regarding naming names, i hope people arent just asking for names to give them an oppurtunity to launch scathing attacks. Naming of names should only be done inorder to prevent a similar problem occuring to other members.

Id suggest any naming names threads be approved by, and locked by the Admins, with the names removed as a resolution is found. (2 bobs worth)

Ok, my 2 cents worth again

AP has been very patient with these guys and several times has had a chat to me about some of them.

I dont want the thread to go off topic if people are named but the issue at hand here is that people have not paid for a product or service, and any other industry this would not be treated lightly.

Pete has been fair in his first post and the manner in it has been handled, this will continue.

It will never lead to a bashing thread

Frankly I'd be inclined to take a stronger line. This forum is a community and with that comes a responsibility for those involved be they sponsors, members or admins to conduct themselves in a manner that befits the community spirit.

Rather than naming names I would prefer to receive a PM from any aggrieved individual on this forum with regard to any transaction and then we can follow it up and take appropriate action which may well include a total ban of those who do not wish to operate in the true spirit of this forum.

As with all things these transactions - particularly with newer members - need to be treated with due caution but let me make it clear that we will not tolerate dishonesty.

Cheers
Russ

Without sounding like an *** clown, if they don't pay up, is a ban from this site really going to be a loss to the individuals?

I'm sure it won't and I could care less anyway. This is about protecting the remaining members from their scamming ways.

Name them. As someone who sells a few things here. People that do these type of things make it harder for everyone. I get people depositing $ in my account all the time. If there is an issue I sort it or refund $ where needed. So far no refunds or problems which I am happy about.

I've had amounts as large as $300 deposited but I give as many details as possible to the buyer to make them comfortable. It also establishes that I am real and don't give out false details. I quote postage costs cheaper than they really are in most cases and if I feel it's been too long for the process I express parcel post. Costs me more but keeps a buyer happier.

[edit] This isn't the place to be ripping fellow members off. :
