gday all

I am posting this for one of my family friends

they have found out that they are in need of a bigger car ie people mover due to the fact they have 3 children and are now expecting twins ( was an accident ( so they say))

now my friend stated that he saw a hyundai something he couldnt read the badge

I know this is a ford forum but we have so many great knowledgeable people here that they might know

now it was not an i-max as i showed him pics ofone but he would like to know what it was as he would like to see the specs etc of it as he also needs to tow approx 2t with it as well

I need a bigger car too( 4th on the way) but I have worked out the best way is a AU/BA wagon and put extra seat in the back(1 or 2 not sure yet)

probarly one of these he might have trouble finding a decent people mover that can tow 2tonn loads

Kia Grand Carnival - cant recommend it more - I got a 2T tow pack fitted when I bought it - towed a Pajero on a cAr trailer with no worries (easier then my AU3 did actually).

Car has so many features and is actually very reliable - just had the CV's done at 90,000 ks - thats the only work done to it - and I give it a gut full every time I drive.

The 2011 model has over 200Kw - my 2006 model has 286Kw - and it is faster then a 6 cyl commodore, falc and terri - confirmed - lol.

Only downside is it is a FWD, but IMHO, it handles better (and smoother) then an AWD terri.

depending on your mates budget stay away from a carni built before the motor change in 2005

probably try an "iload" diesel has 2t towing capacity even in the manual.
tested one and it whips everything in class, performance and price.

Even the decent sized 4WDs ... when all seats are in use ... have no luggage/storage areas ... hence where the people movers come into their own if you have them full of kids ... with prams and bags and other associated stuff you need to carry on a day to day basis ... and then have room for shopping as well.

I love my 7-seat Territory ... but if i needed to use all 7 seats constantly ... with need for luggage room ... it doesn't cut it ... there's no room for anything with the rear seats.

The newer Hyundai people mover looks the good. Which is the iMax
The iLoad as mentioned above is a delivery van though and I don't think as the provision for rear seats in it.

EDIT ... iLoad can only take 6 people though ... but has plenty of room for luggage ... the iMax takes 8 people plug cargo.

Power is all well and good ... but I'd never want to rev the guts out of one of these ... I'd be looking more at the torque figures on them.

Looks like a lot of the new-gen TDs make some decent torque figures and would be much better for punting around the entire family.

iMax makes 392Nm from the small 2.5L TD ... where the Grand Carnival make about 343Nm from the larger 2.9L TD .. and the Grand Carnival costs a fair bit more as well from what i have been seeing. And is has a much smaller luggage area along with that price tag as well.

Kia has come a fair way ... but i think the Hyundai looks the better vehicle ... would come down to driving it to see what it really is like.

Absolute no brainer , Mazda MPV flexibility beyond belief with the ability to totally remove the rear seats and or reconfigure them also . 3.5 litre V6 sliding rear doors , absolutely kills anything else in its class .
