"Mitsubishi updated its Lancer sedan which has been on the market since 2007.
The Japanese brand's small car has been given a minor cosmetic makeover and added extra features to make it more appealing to buyers. The new range offers three trim levels, the entry level being the ES Sport which is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and comes standard with a reversing camera, front fog lamps, LED daytime running lamps, digital audio broadcast (DAB) with 6 speakers, colour touch screen and 16 inch alloy wheels and starts from $19,500 (plus on-road costs). Stepping up to the new GSR variant you get 18 inch alloy wheels and sports suspension plus the added performance of a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine and starts from $22,500 (plus on-road costs). The LS variant resorts back to the 2.0-litre engine found in the ES Sport but is packed full of gear including leather interior, privacy glass, reverse parking sensors, rain sensing wipers, auto headlights, smart key and heated seats and is available from $23,500 (plus on-road costs). The ES Sport and GSR variants are offered with both a manual and continuously variable transmission, while the LS is offered solely with a CVT transmission. The GSR is offered in both sedan and sportback variant while the ES Sport and LS are sedan only. Sales for the ES Sport and LS sedan as well as the GSR Sportback are on sale now, while the GSR sedan will go on sale in January 2016. 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer prices* ES Sport sedan manual $19,500 ES Sport sedan CVT $21,00 LS Sedan CVT - $23,500 GSR sedan manual - $22,500 GSR sedan CVT - $24,000 GSR Sportback manual - $22,500 GSR Sportback CVT - $24,000 * All prices exclude on-road costs" http://www.drive.com.au/motor-news/u...17-glqhj0.html

The 2016 lancer isn't a successor, its a facelift, theyre still not going to build a replacement, how is that bad journalism?

You could liken this update to the FGX- next gen program cancelled, but they'll still fiddle with the current model as it nears the end.

The Falcon FG has company on death row. Both underrated, capable and simple cars. Sad to see both go. Would much rather a lancer over a corolla, Mazda 3 or civic. In the same way would much rather a falcon than Aurion, commodore or hyundai i45
