Those GLCs are going to be everywhere, seems to be better value than the C Class it's based on considering it comes with AWD and SurroundView cameras.

I like the look of the GLC. They are ALL better priced than I thought.

An innocent question so don't hurt me!!! What have these SUVs got that a Titanium Kuga (which I assume is in the same class for much less money) does not offer?

Terms of features maybe a not a lot in it. The GLC has lane keeping so it will drive itself around corners and can bring itself to a complete stop then start off again with its Distronic. Also 360 degree cameras and full panoramic roof And 20 inch alloys. Mechanically the merc has more power and torque while using less fuel and with a 2.4 tonne tow rating it also has constant power to all 4 wheels with a rear wheel bias whereas cars like the Kuga are front wheel drive until they detect slip. The biggest difference is conceptually what they are. The GLC is a C Class on stilts so you get all the build quality, strength, fine materials, refinement and quietness all for several hundred dollars less than the equivalent C Class wagon. Whereas while the Kuga is also effectively the donar car on stilts, you are paying around an 50% premium over the equivalent Focus. I actually rate the GLC better value than the mainstream 50k Top of the range compact SUVs. I would pick the Kuga though because of the savings and its a damn good car. This.
Tbh all those cars look pretty bad, the Range Rover is probably the best. I don't understand the logic behind those cars though. They can't really off road, might as well get a sedan or a station wagon.

Not having the Audi Q5 in this list seems strange as it seems to be the same size as those tested and has a very good reputation.

Considering an Evoque for my next daily 2.2TD should be a nice driver.

Including the Audi, all of these models are good enough that any difference boils down to different tastes among buyers. The BMW is however the driver's car, the Range Rover a little bit of off road cred - though you wouldn't buy any of this class for off road work. That's not their purpose, they're high step-in family road cars, like the Territory.

Macan Turbo (actually any of them S, GTS, or Turbo).
Beats all of them for speed, handling, luxury and build quality. Comes at a price though. |

I'd have thought a Discovery Sport would make this group ... it seems small enough.

I'm glad somebody else noticed that. But I think that and the column gear shift are aimed at the USA market.

I like the floating tablet screen, because if they were to raise the dash to keep the screen in your line of sight, the dash starts looking like a block of flats.

I don't get SUVs. I'd much rather a sedan for on the road, or a proper 4wd to go off road.
The bonus of an SUV is you sit higher, which you really only need to do because every other bastard out there is driving a SUV. Admittedly the older I get, the more my back wouldn't mind stepping into a car rather than sitting down into one... but still. Definitely like the look of the Range Rover inside and out of those cars, but would prefer a Discovery if I was doing that. |

An SUV will at least get you places a sedan won't, and it has far better carrying capability. The only thing it loses out on is handling, but many prefer the better visibility.

Just walking back from the shopping center the other day through the car park, there was in one row of cars hardly a sedan to be seen, they where 95 % SUV's.
While the Lexus in the looks department is a bit out there, at least it's not boring, without even looking at them I would probably go the Lexus just because I like the Lexus brand. |

No not a hairdresser but do @40k per year in my FPV and the 6L/100km 4 doors awd is probably much more usable than my 13L/100km ute but any way it won't be your problem because judging from your sprintman1 your still stuck in the 90's and thats cool because thats not my problem either.
