Automotive companies/stores/whatever not having websites is one of my pet hates. Its either through ignorance or just sheer stupidity but I used to work in the auto industry and a lot of them just didn't give a toss about having a website and didn't seem concerned with the lost business. Oh well their loss.
On a similar note, I notice that Hardly Normal still don't have a proper website that is a) accurate and b) has every product on it. The stupid thing is they once did, then it just went to crap. My guess is Gerry Harvey knows his dodgy and half- sales gimps will spot the suckers coming into the store and sting them big time. Can't do that via the internet yet, can you? Up yours Gerry, your sales people are retards anyway.

I dont bother with Aust companies at all really these days. Cheaper, quicker and easier to buy off Jegs or Summit and the stuff is delivered to your door, no need to go anywhere.
Perfect example is I wanted a flexplate. Have to order it and now has taken 3 weeks to get it in, I will be picking it up this morning after I have to go for a drive. Should have just done the online order again but I thought for 1 item how hard could it be, I was wrong. |

Haven't used summit before but i have used VPW and bought alot from there for the XY... and am very happy with the way they conduct themselves
My other alternative if i need the part pronto is to visit Superplus who are about 15 minutes away and are open on Saturday Mornings

yes nicholas is very good, they do have some that work there though, i think they must think they are king because ooooh they work at rocket industries, and there prices even if you have an account are not that good, i can buy most parts from auto power parts in bris for the same price as rocket and i have an account with them.

I buy a fair bit of stuff from rocket,a mate has an account that has good pricing, pricing goes off the volume you buy,its setup more as a wholesale mob than retail, for engine builders etc.
On some of there stuff pricing isnt the best, but for me its easy,I can have stuff the next day if I really need it. I understand how if you do alot of internet shopping it would be crap, but I like having a local place I can return stuff if it breaks or I change my mind. |

Nazis, engine parts, Google and dating. Is this perhaps the most complete thread ever? The Internet is indeed a beautiful thing... so glorious that my ferret approves:

Perhaps I am the exception.
Always received good service from Rocket, the majority of calls have been for chasing up bits, (yes the web site is a little lame), but none the less the service has been good, and I am a private buyer, not trade. Regards Paul

at the risk of naming names , is Graham Cowan still the owner of Rocket Imports ?
i believe that Rocket started as a brand name for parts (kind of like home brand ) when he owned " High Performance World " in Five Dock. sold high performance world and took the rocket name to the new business.

My pet hate (well one of them...) is when businesses have email and they won't reply to it. Or if they do they reply with "ring me". What for? If I wanted to ring you (if I had the time) I would of done that in the first place. Just tell me the info on the product(s) that I want in an email. That way there is no confusion with misquotes if/when I decide to order. I would of thought email would be better for businesses. Instead of being interrupted with phone calls all the time spend time at the end of the day answering the emails.

No one has to buy gear off them, they are dud's because you cant get a price you like off em? Well someones buying the gear and buying alot they seem to be doing well enough, and I for one would rather have more places to buy from than less. Now in case you missed it the first time, they are setup as a wholesale operation geared to the engine builders and other speed shops simple as that, deal with it. Doubt they even care for the smaller end, they are geared to a certain market and do well with it.Just the way it is,and whinging wont change it. By the way,I prolly get most gear cheaper from them than you do from summit |

Oh you want examples too! Rang the disinterested phone operator at rockets looking for a converter, Asked for item by part number and name, after a while hes gets back to me and quotes $800+ for converter but are out of stock have to order it in. no worries I say, be at least 4 weeks he says. Looking at same converter at jeggs $380US plus $150US shipping all good I'll take a alloy HV water pump(brand name) as well mate $100US. All up came to less than $800AUS including shipping and had items in less than a week. Thats good price and service.(and free catalogues, not $20) : |

This thread tripped me out ??? Or I'm drunk..
Anyways, I find with the increasing strengh of the aussie dollar, its not really work considering any most aussie suppliers anymore as most of the prices are still based in 1999 when the dollar was 55 cents :togo: Cheaper and generally easier to go straight to summit / jegs |
