That Monaro is a bloody replica of an Italian classic, the 'Fiat Coupe'....

I have been looking into importing one of these beauties ever since I saw a yellow one on the streets of Turin with bonnet scoops and a body kit that made it look like a Ferrari.

And she IS MINE

Picked her up on Saturday... after several years of searching I finally found the right car at the right time in the right place at the right price...

Got it for my birthday (today)... I still can't wipe the smile from my face.

Even the key is a thing of beauty

And the final touch:

Forget about the looks as looks alone is purely subjective, you never know what market it is aimed at, BUT where does that price tag come from??? How do they justify that???

From the OP:

Quote:
2008 Bitter Vero Based on the Holden Statesman, the limited production Bitter Vero is selling for €122,000, or approximately $175,576.

The... Vero is based on the (6 liter V8) Holden Statesman. Changes include different front and rear fascia, new hood, upgraded interior appointments, and improvements to the suspension and brakes.
JK also states that the $175,576 is in usd. Thats nearly just about bang on $200K aud in todays money.

Only two things I like about it:

1. Four exhaust pipes
2. If it's made from metal, then we can crush it.

That looks ridiculous, I'd sooner take a Grange for half the price that would do the same thing just in a less ugly manner.

for design inspiration get a picture of a car give it to your son with some crayons and then make what he has drawn on there - it seems to be working for bitter.

That Fiat is a Chris Bangle design - he then joined BMW.

The Bitter is up against the German marques, enough said!.

On its launch in 1993, the Coupé was available with a four cylinder, 2.0 L 16V engine, in both turbo (190 PS) and normally-aspirated (139 PS) versions. Both engines were later versions of Fiat's twin-cam design and inherited from the Lancia Delta Integrale, winner of the World Rally Championship a record six times. 1996 brought in a 1.8 L 16V engine (not available in the UK, 130 PS), along with a 2.0-litre 5-cylinder 20V (147 PS), and a 5-cylinder 2.0-litre 20V turbo (220 PS (160 kW; 220 hp)). With a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time of 6.3 seconds, and a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h) the Fiat coupe was among some of the quickest European front wheel drive cars of its day.
This is from wikipedia, but has an interesting ommission as mine is a 1996 16v 2ltr turbo.

It's got around 140kw / 190hp and will do the 100 in around 6.5-6.8 depending on the site you reference.

It is very smooth to drive... turbo kicks in at around 2800 and boy does it push you back into your seat.

I have never driven or owned a turbo, but can now see how easy it is to get unstuck... My brother was suggesting bigger wheels / bigger turbo / addition of an intercooler but bugger that, will leave it as is.

Cheers,

The Fiat Coupé (type 175, officially titled the Coupé Fiat) was a coupé produced by the Italian manufacturer Fiat between 1993 and 2000. The car was introduced at Brussels Motor Show in 1993.[2]

It is most remembered for its distinctive, angular design, with unique scalloped side panels. The body was designed by Chris Bangle from "FIAT Style Center", while the interior was designed by Pininfarina. The exterior design would foreshadow much of late 1990s and early 2000s car design, acting as a precedent to both Bangle's somewhat notorious work at BMW, as well as futuristic angular designs by other marques such as Ford and Renault.
Correct... Some may dislike the design, but I personally love the 'mini Ferrari' look it has.

I love the design aswell and think it is one of his best. It still looks modern.
