Just seems like a waste of rubber etc. and too dangerous to me. Still, better done on the track than suburban roads, I guess. Saw some of Fast & Furious: Japan (similar) 'tother nite-not good to encourage hoons, IMO. Copycats are too common, and usually incompetent. I expect spikes in problems around when such programs are aired.

They all say "1.6 Carby" even if it doesn't look it in the engine bay. BTW does anybody know any reputable import shops in south QLD/north NSW. The one in Coffs is dodgy as. |

You can drift a ford falcon but you wont win comps in it unless you spend big bucks. Ive had a go in my car just for fun and I can link the whole track in Perth, mind you not with the same amount of lock and speed as the pro's.
Some vids of my falcon http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=6jA1oL_ACWM http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=88ClF4hfq9M The problem is with the early e-series they have the -house umbrella handbrake. You don't NEED it but you would want to invest in a hydraulic handbrake, it makes it alot easier and you can do bigger, longer and faster entries into corners with one. If I was to build a falcon drift car I would use an early EB/ED, manual, strip the weight, decent suspension(springs/coils/swaybars), LOCKER/LOKKA/SPOOL whatever, LSD's will not last. Once I have sussed out the car and how it handles around the track then I would look at giving it some more power. Forced induction preffered if it's a 6. Drifting is all about fun IMO, if I was to get serious I'd be looking at buying a Jap car much more aftermarket stuff and a better chassis/weight for drift. But FULL RESPECT FOR ANYONE WHO DRIFTS AN AUSSIE CAR!!!!!!!!!

All decent drift cars have MODS !! Especially to front steering where heaps of lock is added so you can correct on side for good angle..
Its not hard to convert hydraulic handbrake etc.. May as well build a fwd car to rwd and add your own suspension bits with roll cage.. It would strictly be off road.. I was going to build a Ford Probe with Cobra 4.6 V8 as drag / powercruise car.. But building an RA28 [Mustang shape] Celica with 1UZ 4.0 V8 from a Lexus..[Forged rotating assembly and S475 turbo of course.. Would have like to keep Ford build but the modular V8's at the time where too expensive.. The changes done to rear suspension with mini tubbing etc.. I may as well have converted a front wheel drive car !!! The issue with long wheel base is its slow car.. A quick car needs to be at least 600mm shorter.. All aspects needs changing in most cars to be competitive...

Yes that XF ute was in the event in Winton a couple of months ago, and i am pretty sure he won it! Beat all the countless amount of Nissans and it was him and an AE86 in the final.
The ute is fully set up for drifting with stiffer suspension, hydraulic handbrake and a trick diff. The engine was an EB 4 litre turoboed on straight LPG. Sounded and went awesome. I think the bloke's name was Stormy, handy steerer. |

Thats why you rarely see them drifting and when you do they get beaten by a cheaply/mildly modded S13, 14 or 15 A mate has spent a small fortune on a 300ZX for drift and it is still not there. $25ooo on the twin turbo engine did not work, then a 454 but it blew up as it was tuned for drags and now a turbo LS1. I would love to see a blue drift car but ts another world. Even if you spend the $$$ on a Ford you will see why they mostly use the Nissans. |

Oh dear god this thread just gets funnier.....
Mad Mike's quad-rotar RX7- Current Paint Previous 300ZX don't work for drift either. Samples of proper drift cars.... Cheap: (Both cars N/A and Carby) Built for less than 25,000 - Common and proven -

I'd be looking at an old cortina with a turbo 250 or 4L, or a esky with a SR20 etc in it.
Or, buy a AWD TX3 and convert it to RWD only!

A local drifter just swapped his 1JZ JZX90 Chaser for a 1uzFE AE86. Isn't great to have those sort of options.
