My dad paid $8k for his original xy gt back in 1984. Leaves the shed once a year for a pink slip lol. He wont part with it, and no one blames him ;)

Has my EL now for 11 years. It'll probably be replaced in a year or two if it doesn't stop before then.
We bought the Peugeot brand new back in 2006 and plan on keeping that for a long time, otherwise we would have gone for a secondhand car and not taken the depreciation hit.
The XE was bought brand new back in Jan 1985 by my father. Ownership was then transferred to my brother and myself back in 2005 just before my father died. Been in my shed the last 2.5 years awaiting historic rego. 4 years to go.

My family had a little Daihatsu Hi-Jet van for about 12 years, and only had mechanical issues with it for the last two years before selling it in 1999.

Bought the RS2000 off the back lot of the local Ford dealer back in 1990(second owner traded it on a 2wd TX3 ), will NEVER sell - everything else just comes and goes, though I am getting rather attached to the current daily driver - 99 update AU1 Fairmont Ghia VCT with factory 'Tickford Enhancements'.....

Cheers

Ditto. A car is lucky to be in my driveway for more than 3 years.

This seems to support what the local dealer was saying, as in his experience the majority of people keep their car for approx 3 years before selling on.

The longest was my AU2 XR6 VCT at 2 and half years. Ironic really since I didn't like it that much.

However I intend to beat that record with at least one of the cars I have now.

My BA XR8 purchased new in 05, will be a keeper.

Other previous cars include a EB Fairmont 5.0 which I had for 5 years and a 99 courier dual cab which I had for 7 years.
