All bidders were advised of the buyers premium and with items at this price point they need to consider the final price they're prepared to pay inclusive of this.

So $204250 was the final sale price!

I dont understand why someone would pay more for the silver one, as against one that has actually been raced and raced well? very strange! I would have thought the white one would have been worth more, who cares about concourse condition of the silver one :-/

No arguments there mate, but I just wanted to clarify so people knew the price that the car actually WENT for, versus additional fees.

Wonder what the Bill Bourke XR would be worth then - in today's market?

they both fall into the rarity stakes however the silver one needs nothing just maintenance whereas the white one deserves a full nut and bolt resto but is none the less still very presentable. the silver one is much easier on the eye and also a lot "tighter" to drive. im sure gary in time would of restored the white one to the silver cars level and even higher given he always found ways to improve his work and SHARE his info and make sure others close to him didnt make the same mistakes....unfinished business he called it! GENUINE XRGT PARTS which the race car deserves in such a process are rare to say the least so makes the white car a different proposition. RIP Mr watson

The silver car is heading to our shed in north queensland to spend its days along side a phase 1 ,phase 2 ,phase 3 ,XT GT,XA rpo coupe, XY ute and as soon as we can find one a XB GT to complete the collection! The car will be well looked after but it will also be driven like the rest of them ,and I am sure it will be on display at the Townsville 400 next year .

Lookout for a feature on the 53D Geoghagen XRGT in October Fuel Magazine.
Here's a sneek peek at the style of photography you'll see.
