Majority of the models (Pajero, Lancer, Triton and Outlander) have been around since 07 with slight upgrades over the years. Colt has been around forever. Express van since the 80s. The only new thing is the ASX and that doesn't feel new either.
Mitsubishi do have a history of hanging onto models for a long time. |

I drive a bit of a riced up lancer (coilovers and 19's) as my everyday car, its a good car for the coin.
35,000 k's so far and zero issues. I drive it for 75-80 k's a day to and from work and all the daily grind stuff, its quite easy to live with.

I recently traded a Mitsu Challenger for an AU Fairmont Ghia and miss it heaps (was a good size, V6 was good and our overall work horse living rurally) but like the AU for other reasons.
Had an 09 Lancer which I found dull but wife loved it. We now have an 09 Outlander we got recently with 20,000kms on it and of course new car warranty still from factory until 2014. It's gutless but perfect for 2 adults and 2 kids as a daily cruiser and ok on fuel - we dont need to break any landspeed records. Not much else on the market to compete for medium size, cost, warranty, reliabilty. With a 5 year plan, Mitsu could tackle Mazda who I think are the maker of the moment. Watch and learn FoMoCo.

I like Mitsubishis, we have had many in the family and all have been well built, reliable cars. I don't get why people hate them. Yes the lineup is getting old, but not everyone cares about the latest self-parking reversing gadget or amazing performance. They don't have a million recalls like Toyota and they don't fall apart unlike Holdens & Fords. Plus the warranty is fantastic, it speaks volumes about how confident they are in their product.

i have a friend with an Evo, he reckons servicing cost keeps him poor, but he loves the car regardless.

2011 Outlander Legend Pack, Alloys, Leather, Heated seats, rear park camera, auto, 5 year car warranty, 5 year roadside assist, 10 year drive-live warranty $33k drive away. The warranty is a piece of mind for a young family knowing there are no repair costs around the corner, very important when on a tight budget paying of your home.

Outlander is a really solid choice. My Sister looked at a 2007 VRX before she bought her Territory. Wish she bought the Outlander. It was such a better drive than the Territory.

The 5 year 160,000km warranty was a real selling point for me. They might not be the newest design, but the benefit is that it is a proven package that will be reliable and have known problems.

I shared somewhere else on the forums about my experience driving a few new shape Lancers, fantastic car to drive. My brother went searching for a small car and bought one and loves it. I am also considering a Pajero to replace our Territory, only because I want a real 4WD mind you. In my opinion they make a great car at a great price!

Mitsubishi make very robust cars. Have a look at their warranty. 5/10 warranty? Who else does that?
Their designs are now dated, that is known to them but the cars are very robust. Kind of like Mazda but their styling is better received. Watch Mitsubishi come screaming back. |

I bought our Paj when the Lancer was just being rolled out (was actually going to buy a Ralliart Lancer but wait time was 8 months at the time).
No major faults apart from the auto deciding to lose drive sometimes. The Lancer, Pajero and Outlander needs looking at for replacement, and I think the ASX and Challenger are unnecessary in the line up (is covered by Outlander and Pajero)

my biggest gripe with mitsubishi is the excessive use of hard plastics especially in the top spec models ie vrx Lancer, aspire ASX etc. that and the underpowered engines matched to those terrible cvt gearboxes. however most people are not like me and dont demand a powerfull engine and a well sorted gearbox

The evo....yeah it is underpowered too. If you don't like the CVT, choose another model

Their EVOs are great, but far too expensive for what you get these days ... The rest of the range is getting very old ...

if they kept the 2.4lengine and mated it to a cvt then it probably be ok, but the 2.0l is so weak that the cvt constanly has to hunt and it feels and sounds terrible |

The ralliart has a different cvt gearbox from what I have heard. Different to the n/a lancers.

The Ralliart has a 6 speed DSG gearbox, not a CVT.
They have the 2.4L engine mated to manual or CVT in the Outlander and Lancer (VRX). No turbo petrol Mitsubishi has a normal torque convertor automatic. ASX has virtually no hard plastics. The entire dash is soft touch, quality plastic/rubber. Please don't comment on things when you only have half the story! |
