I do like the Transit though.
Yeah, I gave very serious consideration to a Transit Dual cab, 2 & a Half years ago. (mainly for the 6/7 Seats as apposed to 5 in other Dual cabs). But in the end thought it a Bit Too Big & cumbersome for a Daily driver...

Last time I walked in to a dealer was when I was ready to move the fgx g6e t on, focus st was too tight for me to sit in, ranger, not needed, so mustang was it, drove it enjoyed driving it and seriously considered getting one but the ill fitting nose cone plus my OCD given I wanted it in pearl white made it impossible for me to do it so went the GS instead,

Not much in the new car market excites me now,

I saw an Endura on the road on Friday night.

I'm generally anti SUV but the Endura looks mint, unfortunately reading into it, seems like it's a jacked up Mondeo.

I'd consider the new Ford Explorer if they introduced this into our market with Ecoboost V6.

Default Re: Which new Fords have you been looking at, or test driven?

I service my Ford's with the local dealer so I get to drive a variety of cars as service loan cars, and not just Fords.

Focus - The LZ didnt really do much for me. They drove well but the interior was poorly packaged and dull. The new Focus that went on sale late last year surprised me. The interior space is much better packaged and presented, the 3 pot engine strong and it was very nice to drive. The ride was a little firm on the ST-Line I had on the day, but I'm familiar with hard ride coming from an FGX XR8

Escape/Kuga - I've driven a few of these, both the diesel and the 1.5 EcoBoost. Like the Focus, they drive well but the interior is showing its age.

Territory - The dealer had a couple of these on the fleet for a while even though they had been out of production for while. Such a shame these didn't get a proper replacement and I totally understand why they sold so many of them. That V6 diesel was so refined and comfort excellent.

Mustang - I had a auto GT for the day, in race red too! Made me wish I had bought the auto. I have also been given the keys of a 2018 GT with the 10 speed and Recaro's. Loved the seats and the 10 speed hammers home gear shifts. And sound, stock, is a massive improvement over the earlier ones.

Ranger - driven a few over the years, last one apart from my own being a Raptor. Dual cab utes don't suit my needs and I would never buy one "just because" but the Raptor has its place and the small engine is a non-issue.

Haven't driven the current Mondeo, Endura, Everest, Transit or the outgoing Fiesta. And for some reason the service adviser would never put me in an EcoSport despite me asking for one. I have been wanting to drive one to see if they are as bad as people make them out to be.

Yeah, I know the whole gearbox fiasco ended in the 2016 year model, but I wouldn't even look buying at a Focus in the future.
Once I have a bad experience it's hard for me to get on board with a newer version of the product.

Wife and I test drove an Escape Titanium in July 2018. I had done a bit of research and it was either that or a Mitsubishi X-Cross. I had considered an X-Trail but thought it would be pretty gutless. Had also looked at the Qashqai but it was too cramped inside and again gutless. After the test drive Mrs M was impressed with the features and performance of the Titanium so we signed up for a new Escape Titanium in ruby red that day without driving the X-cross. Just over 12 months from delivery and no regrets. A great Highway cruising vehicle.

I just don't have the Ford passion as I had for sososo long.
Hardly any of the range comes out and bites me.
The lack of unique performance (ala FPV/Tickford) is nil.
Dual Cab I would consider Ranger next daily update but Raptor in V8 would pull me in, I'm open to any of the brands now in 4x4's. V6 Amarok I will consider.
Mustang, it would have been a dead ringer for me but I'd like more than a GT, a proper Factory one like with PP2 - paying $70k + to then get other mods done not factory just irks me so Mustang I'm seriously not bothered anymore.
A proper Endura performance model I'd consider as well but not going to happen.
So overall Ford is slim pickings for me at present.

There are a few low mileage ecoboost mondeos on the market. They supposedly have the same 2l turbo engine as the escape. The titanium looks the goods.

The reviews all read well, but buyers want suvs.

The only thing I have looked at recently is the new Ssangyong range, Mustang and Stinger. I always have and still do check out new Jags when they launch.

Hi,
Can we please try to stay near the topic here.
This isn't about which OTHER brands you have looked at.

Will upgrade the Escape to either a new Focus Titanium or new Fiesta ST. The head says Focus, the heart says Fiesta. Will wait until MY20 Focus and MY20.25 Fiesta ST before pulling the trigger.

I have had a handful of Focus drive cars while the Escape has been getting serviced and always walk away impressed, they’re no Fiesta ST but still manage to put a smile on your face!

That's partly why I still get my car serviced at the Ford dealer, so I can take advantage of their free loan car and test drive some of their latest products. I've had loads of Fiesta, Focus, and Kuga/Escape, even got an Escape Titanium once. The outliers were the Mondeo, an SZII Territory, the Ranger (which I thought was great on the highway, but a pain in the office car park) and the new Focus ST-Line.

I had an EcoSport loan car once - never again. I think the one I got was a naturally aspirated one, too. They were quite gutless, and the interior feels like it was assembled with parts bought from The Reject Shop. Coming from my Mondeo Titanium, it was a huge step backwards.

If the new Ford Puma is to make it here to replace the EcoSport, I can only hope Ford shifts its compact SUV upmarket.

There's no more FPV or performance Falcons. I've looked at the Mustangs. Good Lord, the panel fitment is utterly disgraceful, and the price isn't worth it for such poor build quality.

I think our next car will be a Kia Stinger GT.

Had a new Endura Trend as a loan car the other day. Interior was very nice, although the seats were a bit flat. Torque was really good from the turbo diesel, although pushing the pedal to the floor made it go no faster. Had flappy paddles, presumably as some sort of joke. But it drove really nicely, quiet, handles surprisingly well for a wagon on stilts and would make a very good family rig. I don't think too many would be disappointed with it.

Personally, wouldn't consider it because I'm not into SUVs or Diesels. If it was petrol and car height, I'd seriously consider one for the missus.

I've also driven a Ranger, and an Ecosport (previous Kuga was preferable).

As for the rest of the range, I am happy that Ford have a good focus on building cars that drive well.

Haven't driven or been in a Stang but would like to, and it's great having a v8 hero car still available. I'm very keen on the new Focus ST. They are just so much fun. Manual of course.

I haven't bought a car for myself for a long time.
To be honest, there's nothing in the Ford New Car Showroom that excites me.
If I was buying new, and had the money, I'd probably look at something like the XF Jag.

I still harbour dreams of getting another GT, or at least one of the last XR8s.
But as for new? At some point in the not too distant future, I'll probably look at a Mondeo Wagon as a daily. I quite like them, and like the diesel, but it's not what I'd call excitement.

I actually had a dream about getting a new Ford last night.

It was an FGX G6E RTV ute. Somehow I don't like my chances.

I have dropped into both the Metro and Motorama Ford new car showrooms several times this year just to have a look and see what’s new in terms of the 2019 vehicle model range and their new features including their glitz and gizmo's. Like many other fellow respondents to this threat there nothing in the current Ford vehicle range that sparks my interest what so ever. Lucky for me I own 2 low kilometer Ford Falcons.

One of them is a permeant keeper but the other is a daily drive (my ute) but given the fact my ute is barely broken in I don’t foresee a need to replace it anytime in the next 5 years. Hopefully by then Ford will have designed and built a vehicle that I actually like and want, however I won’t be holding my breath anytime soon. On that front unfortunately I may have to consider other manufacturers to source my next new daily drive.

Great threat by the way!

Cheers, Brent

I hired a Mustang recently through Hertz for my daughters birthday, was lucky enough to be upgraded to the 2018 GT Tickford HTZ-66 tribute (was told it was supercharged, never popped the bonnet to check). Was an awesome car and I loved every second in it, but I don't know that I could ever justify buying one. As well mannered as it was around town and the damn thing went like a scalded cat with a prod of the right toe, i just felt like it was too much to own as anything but a toy. The interior was surprisingly comfortable although the ride was fairly solid but I think if I had taken it out of Perth it would have broken my back.
