many people think that Ford just used an existing Mazda engine, they didn't,
the engines were co-developed by both companies The latest 2.3 and 2.0 Ford engines are completely redesigned based on Ford's combustion studies into optimising for forced induction, Mazda's SkyActive engines have gone a completely different path. |

I think a honourable mention should go to Fords joint venture with caterpillar in producing the 3208 V8 used in so many mid range trucks, bus and large motorhomes.
