It's funny around here. We have huge signs leading up to the fixed cameras, but even with the mobile vans they are pretty obvious even if they removed the signs on the roof. You get the old sneaky around a bend.

Many times I thought I was done and yet never have been. The only time I copped a fine was in 2006 by an actual cop and it was just **** luck. They came down an on ramp

But the man said you can get through the tunnel 50secs faster!

That's almost a minute travelling time you've saved!

Some knob decided to put on a fun run on one of the exit lanes on the west gate the other week, which forced me to use the tunnel. I reckon its the first time I've used that tunnel in like 5 years, and was quite keen to see it in action....but another knob had it turned off :(

The trucks were canning through it but your SUVs were going at turtle pace.
Was surprised to see speed limit being upped to 80kmh some way before the exit. Is that the uphill bit everyone is talking about? The very obvious speed cameras just at the exits don't help.

Hi. And signs at the start of the tunnels saying "turn on headlights" so you can see the said speedo but 25% dont even do that and then drive through the tunnel at 50 KPH. Cheers MD

I read somewhere that just one car driving slow and erratically can cause traffic jams that go for many kilometres. If you only go through there once every few years, do you feel lucky?

Yes, there is actually a term for that, can't remember what it is though.

Saw an experiment, where they had all the cars evenly spaced, going around a big round about. When every car maintained the same pace, traffic continued to flow. But as soon as one car slowed down, it turned to crap. It caused the car behind to brake, and the car behind it to also brake and so on and so on. Then they couldn't get the same original flow happening again, even though no cars or obstacles were added to the traffic.

edit:

edit:

Isnt that the worm effect? One car slows so the cars behind slow, then the lead car speeds up as do the cars behind. Creating a worm in traffic flow.

First thing you get taught in traffic management training.
You only need to slow down one car and the rest will be forced to follow
