Thanks man, back on topic. I have to agree with you. Whilst Holden still kept the V in their VE, they have been running V ever since the commodore. Ford on the other hand have changed the first model letter every time they have a new chassis so I'm betting it will be a new letter like C or something.

Also, it wouldn't be D something because they've had the DA LTD in 1988, and for the same reason it wouldn't be N something due to the NA-L fairlanes.

AU and BA is the same body shape/chassis and Ford changed the first letter from A to B. So it doesn't mean that they will necessarily change from "B" to another letter. Remember the BA is a variation of the AU family. The next Falcon model after the BF will be a whole new car.

In English:
1. I don't know why Ford called the BA, the BA instead of AC,AF, AK etc cos it's a variation of the AU.

2. As a result of the above, Ford could designate any model code to the next Falcon

BA wasnt a variation of the AU!!, IIRC BA is/was a whole new model, plus it looks nothing like the AU.

UM...it is NOT a whole new model! Check the mid section of the car out! The AU and BA share the same body!!! It's only the front panels and the rear panels that are different!! Much like the change from EB to EF. They are part of the EA family even though they look very different.

Next you'll say that the VZ isn't part of the VT family of cars!!!

The VE will be an all new bodyshape.

Ford's competitor to this will be next ALL-NEW falcon, NOT the BF. The BA and BF are part of the AU series of cars. Just like the VZ is part of the VT, VX, VY series of cars.

Next model? Nah - I'm tipping old Billy will pull the plug on Australian operations and THERE WILL BE NO NEW FALCON!

If there is, it will be built in China in the new factory Ford is building there as we speak. Same goes for Commodore.

Welcome to the New World Economy suckers! :MrT_anim: :eclipsee_

I remember before release of the BA everyone was speculating that it would be called the AV!
Although the BA was just a continuation of the AU, the reason Ford went to another letter was because they wanted to distance the new model away from the AU as far as they could after the sales disaster that it was. Calling it the BA gave the impression that it was a completely new model.

I doubt that very highly. The next all new "Orion" Falcon has already been approved for local production, while Holden has made it clear that they are here for the long term.

They changed it to BA because it was gonna be called AV but they didnt want that so they changed it to BA short for Barra.

The BA is a little more different in terms of body than the AU. Firstly, the whole rear end floor pan is different to cope with the control blade suspension, as well as the situation of the fuel tank in front of the diff. Also, the roof has slightly sharper creases than the AU, as well as the construction of the chassis overall for the claimed 40% increase in rigidity. This is not the same as the ED-EF as that was merely a facelift, whilst the under carriage remained the same. I have had the same arguement with a designer at ford who has assured me that whilst they tried to maximise any commonalities to reduce tooling costs, they had to start afresh with the BA.

and BTW, they said if anyone says that the BA and AU are the same, then they will call the new model the FU2.

Looking like a latest model Monaro is no bad thing, those bastards have road presence.

This chop looks the goods, I wonder if the roofline mod is do-able, or would seating be a impossible to fix issue due to current floorbases' high seating arrangment...

Is it just me, or does this look like a Monaro.

Maybe if it wasn't so curved at the top. Perhaps it would be my dream car.

But for now its a BF GT-P in Vixen! :eclipsee_

I hope the next gen looks like that....but I doubt it.

That was a concept done a few years back..called the 427 I think. But we should talk about that engine and rumours now should we......

As long as they don't call it the CU. The CU ah, um XT would soon be called something rather not nice by some people....

Actually I think that's the Falcon 500 concept, the 427 concept was a 2 door coupe and convertable (with 427 cui V10 I think).

nah you could be right..although I get my 500's mixed up. You can currently buy a Ford 500 in the US (pos), and at one time there might have been a SUV concept called the 500.

Meh.... _

Either way that black one is awesome...anyone know if you can get a 1/18 scale model of it?

Two thumbs up, i agree whole-heartedly.

But an AWD F6 with and upgraded engine, say 300kw and 575Nm, would be, in my eyes, the biggest and meanest muscle car ever.

With regard to the AWD thing, since buying my scoobydoo, I'm finding myself becomming addicted to AWD. I realised this just today as I was flying through the forrestry and casually throwing the car around loose gravel twists at around 100 clicks.

It got me thinking, its a very fun car to drive as it is, even if the 100kw engine is not magnificently powerful. Imagine how fun it'd be if it really had some go!

If they do try out AWD falcons again (and I havent seen any indication of this but we can dream), I reckon they should do the low sporty models, but also one with a lift kit . A bit higher than the adventra too. Stupid adventra, although I must say the one I saw was doing surprisingly well in the kitty litter.
