I must be the odd one out... We get on with all of our immediate neighbours really well. One next door owns a HQ Monaro with a 383 in it and a 350 powered ski boat that gets started up in the afternoons on a Sunday which is great (music to my ears). And the other is just one of the greatest. I must say it is very unusual to say the least.

The last street I lived in before we moved to Brisbane we lived next door to the Assistant Commisioner of Police, he was a nice guy too, ex-QLDer too! Loved his cars and had a Mustang just before we left (the last model bought into Australia and sold by Ford Aus).

Mind you I had one neighbour in Darwin complain about a similar thing when I was getting my old RX4 ready for roadworthy its final roadworthy. I know I was in the wrong just driving it up and back down the street, but as has been said they could have just approached us and we'd have let them know it was just the once to check things. The copper that came around was quite friendly and amused by the situation (wasn't the best of neighbourhoods...)

We had our spit that day and I told him to clean up his ИИИИING mess, as his property was a disgrace..

Next thing im out washing one of the cars one day and he comes up telling me that the water restrictions do not permit me to wash the car, I knew that I was within my rights as Brisbane city council were still allowing us to wash our cars as long as it wasn't monday, which is still the case till May im led to believe. All I can say is neighbours are nothing but a pain in the ***, the next property I buy will be 10 acres or more where I cant even see my neighbours nor their bullИИИИ.
I live on 5 acres and the neighbours are the worst yet. A friend of mine jokingly called them Mr and Mrs Mangles . Even the people who live in the same estate say to me that they are glad that they don't live next to these people.

What do you do? I just try to keep a low profile and collect as many cars as I want to. Apparently there isn't a limit as to how many cars you can have as the neighbour already tried that one on the council.

I live next door to a cemetary, so not many complaints except a lot of people are dieing to get in. Lived at this address for the past 18 years. No complaints. :

The only complaint is that when we had a new fence put up, the council (in charge of the cemetary) wouldn't pay for half even though its the law because they are govt and can exclude themselves.

Some people are only alive because its illegal to kill them.

On one side I have no dramas with the neighbors.

On the other, there is a Polish Woman with a Chip on her Shoulder, and a French Man, who couldn't be pleasant if his life depended on it. Her first words when I and the Fiancée (at the time) when we moved in were "I'm Polish, Live with it". Apparently, they haven't spoken to any of the neighbors in 10 years.

Mr. and Mrs. ******* have accused me of everything from stealing a plant, to scratching their car with my Whipper snipper, when I hadn't cut the lawn in about a month. Whats worse, there is a multitude of kids in the street, and they drive their two Range Rovers at 60 Ks an hour in a cul-de-sack, but when they get told to slow down by the police, they drive faster. I hate those neighbors, and I just hope that their poor kids don't turn out like them.

Ahh yes our street has the self-appointed guardians living in it too. There's a couple of ИИИИ****s at either end who apparently think they're traffic police. When I used to have my Gemini (with a loudish exhaust) I'd drive it up the street and hold out the gears because it had no guts down low (like most small displacement engines). One day I'm driving up the street and these ИИИИing ****ers who were attempting to, and failing at putting up a fence started yelling out abuse at me for apparently driving 'too fast' up the street. Yer I was doing 50 km/h you idiots!!! These same people let their moronic kids play on the road at the bottom of a very blind T intersection because both sides have massive fences which obstruct the view around the corners.

And at the other end I have more idiots, who seem to think yelling out "SLOOOOOWW DOWN" when I'm doing the speed limit is necessary.

I hate living in the suburbs, full of arseholes and I can't wait to get an apartment in the city (soon I hope).

My next door neighbour is a royal pain in the ИИИИ.

She has a 500W spotlight aimed through my bedroom window which they leave on at all hours. Makes sleeping rather difficult.

Quite often she will practice her flute late at night. It may only be a flute, but sound travels. Its just loud enough to prevent sleep.

I went over there the other week and asked her to stop as it was 1am and I was trying to sleep. She said "I highly doubt that you can hear it..."

What? like I had a premonition that you were playing flute? if I couldnt hear it why am I here ИИИИhead?

in the end she said "theres no law against practicing music at 1am."

so I said "no not directly... but there isnt directly a law saying that its illegal to strangle fat indian women at 1am either but it doesnt work like that does it..."

I left it at that...

Picking up there broken glass bottles in my backyard, also they cut the top 6 inches off my colour bond fence with an angle grinder, without a string line.. and threw all the bits of steel in my backyard.

Check with your local council re by-laws related to noise. I'll bet there is something that can be done.

Maybe she could go to band camp.

yeah neighbours can be poo's when they want.

My parents had some landscaping done and damaged our neighbours property. The landscaping company fixed it up but the neighbours still sued the landscaping company and got about $10k out of their insurance company. Case closed? Nup. After 6 months they decided it it wasn't enough $ and sued my parents for using that landscaping company ? WTF? They got told to get nicked in legal terms and they never exchanged words again....for almost 14 years...

I live on a dual occupant block (original house out front, unit behind). The guy who lives behind us is great. I even mow his little lawn for him when I'm doing mine. He used to be paying the mowing mobs to come around and do it and I felt embarrased when it takes all of 15 minutes. He is also understanding of teh noise we make occasionaly but had a rule that when we have a party....we have to invite him too Ha ha.

I've got 10acres and neighbours are still a pain-in-the-***. They just think with greater distance between neighbours they can make more noise, have more crap, etc ..
My new neighbours have two dogs they lock in seperate yards which bark ALL night. Being quite a few hundred metres from them I can JUST hear them but that's the only noise I can hear .. from when I go to sleep until I wake up. I'm sure they are not at home; nobody could sleep thru that!

God i love living in the country. Neighbour is a car nut, makes more noise and more mess than i do, we get along really well. Old people next to us on the other side, 4 different people have moved into the house in the past 18 months (maybe they dont like us?).

Only problem is a guy who lives down the end of the street (about 1km away) who is on the local council. Always telling me about some council by law i havent adhered to (doing maintenance on the house/block).

You guys worry about your neighbours?? I WISH it was JUST neighbours!!!
I'm only a street away from the Anglers Tavern, which apparently is THE place to be on a Sat & Sun night (especially if it's warmish) Now this sounds all well and good? I'm the first to love a coldie & good music.
The Music carries so clearly that you'd think the band is in my backyard.. Which is fine cause it's usually pretty good stuff & is off by 10.30pm.
The problem IS the patrons on leaving the Anglers! (and on a good night there's AT LEAST a thousand!!) These drunken morons destroy everything in their path on their way back to their cars. And I mean from kicking over every bin in the street, to ripping out the permit parking signs, to actually walking over the roof, bonnet & boots of residents cars, unlucky enough not to have a garage!
One poor girls Barina was actually turned on it's side by 4 of these hoons & left on it's mirror, WHILE the terrified thing was watching from her bedroom and on the Ph to the cops.
We are talking what was once a quaint little family pub on the river, in a residential area that has grown into a frigging MONSTER! The police seem powerless, The council book illegal parkers (& obviously love the extra in their coffers) But, US, the residents have HAD it!!
End of RANT.. sorry!

Mmm...

Guy across the road from me has a MkII GT. Neighbour on one side of him has a BA XR8. Neighbour on other side of him has an AU XR8 ute, and 302 EF Fairmont.

Guy next to me and his son are self confessed Ford nuts.

We all seem to get along fine. Funny that...

hahaha, i was yelling abuse at my sister one day- the next day i walk out the front and the neighbour stormed up to me how dare you speak to me like that, you son of the devil, your an evil evil boy, blah blah. i turned around and in a smartallick way said yep thats good im glad u noticed. then my parents got home and dad was speaking to her husband and she stormed up to dad and went nuts saying our whole family is part of some devil syndicate and stuff, dad has a shortish temper and told her were to go. then we were having a bbq and she popped her head over the fence, so we told her were to go. the next week there was an apology letter in the letterbox apologising to me my mum and my sister but not my dad, we kept it for a bit of a laugh every now and then. she doesnt work and the kids dont go to school and cant talk they just scream and make mumbles and stuff, so it was a right thing to do we just call em the nuf nufs. i wish our old neighbours moved in we used to have bbq's and stuff with them to bad they moved to sydney.

The only bad neighbours ive ever had were the ones that dobbed my stepbrother in for babysitting us when i was younger, he was too young to do it so they called the cops and they took us to the station. When my dad found out he went ИИИИing apeИИИИ and smashed the neighbours sons guitar over his head, and pushed the owner over on his lawn. I feel sorry for most of you, complaints because of car noises and music? Ive never dealt with it, it seems wierd to me.

my next door neighbor is a copper :(:(

ive had the cops around for music, car running and all sorts of other crap. Funnily though, they go straght to his house after paying me a visit...

The music i listen to is far from churchy music so i would say thats part of it(becuase computer speakers can only go so loud), and the car.. well lets say 3 inch exhausts and neighbors just dont get along.

All the time, there is a cop car parked around the corner. Just sitting there waiting for something to happen.

Dont ya just love living in new estates.

Sooo true, my neighbours are generally pretty good apart from the old fella across the road has come out once and said, "I sometimes try and sleep during the day, cars make noise.. remember" and went on his way.

Ive had one guy that thinks he owns the street, few neighbours have warned me about him, and he yelled something out to me one day, didnt hear him but he looked angry, so when I went passed his house again I chirped into 2nd gear.. when I got back he was waiting on my driveway with a knife threatening to slash my tyres. :
I fired up, in a real big way, and my mate that lives up the street just happened to be passing by and saw all this fuss, he stopped and got out with a clublock, needless to say the owner of the street has piped down.
Plus having families of wogs living up one end, and families of mouries up the other nothing really bad happens on this street. Been a few threats though.
