LMAO how true !

Steffo is right, theres a buttload of margin on that price tag.
Korean cars have better interior looks and ergonomics than that

Or a second hand 911 GT2, 911 GT3 CS or GT3 RS, 911 Turbo (996) which will beat the Z06 anyway and still be a better car whilst doing it.

Have to agree with Steffo here. For that price, give me a modern Porsche any day.

They arnt like leaf springs on a Falcon ute.
They are a horizontal spring that goes across from one side to the other on the rear. The back end is still IRS and has been since the original.

Not a great pic but gives you an idea

Wouldnt having one solid spring somewhat defeat the purpose of having irs?

Each wheel can independantly move upwards or downwards, the spring is fixed in the middle so one side has no bearing on the other.

Z06 did a 7:40 lap at the Nurburgring, which is faster than a GT2 Porsche, GT3, Gallardo and Murcielago, Zonda, SLR Mclaren, M3 CSL, AND quicker than a Ford GT. Enzo and Carrera GT are really the only factory cars that have been quicker.

^^ you dont have to pretend u like the interior, just because u drive a holden and the corvette is a GM car...the point here is is that the interior is terrible for a 200K + car...maybe fine for a daewoo something or holden something...but for a 'exotic' sports car its simply terrible...there is nothing there to like- its not 200K special!

Actually, Z06 did 7:42.9.

The 911 GT3 RS (996) did 7:43, and that was their target car to beat. And they did by a tenth. In a pre-production muel, with a bunch of engineer's there optimising and tweaking the car to perfection. Whereas the GT3 was just taken there from the showroom floor and bang, 7:43.

Ford GT did 7:42, that's faster then the Z06.

Zonda F did 7:32 - that's faster then any American car.

M3 CSL is not in these car's leagues.

Carrera GT is definitley quicker - 7:28. Enzo has not run.

The 2001 GT2 (340kW 620Nm) did 7:46. The 2004 GT2 (360kW 640Nm) has never run.

The new 353kW 911 Turbo (a ~1500kg car to the Z06's 1418kg) did it in 7:40, off the show room floor, first run, no BS. That's 2.9 seconds faster then the Z06's ultra super optimised run. And let me tell you, take a stock Z06 there, with out all the engineer's helping you, you'll be lucky to get 7:50 out of it. It took them lots and lots of time and effort to make it that fast, and the production spec models do not run the same tune because they'd be almost unuseable on the road.

So, the Z06 is overrated. Extremley. By patriotic Americans, and GM wanting to try to show up Porsche and BMW.

Nah im not "Pretending" to like it, just because I have a Holden and its a GM product.

I dont mind it to be honest, ive seen far far worse interiors before.

On the other hand some of you dont have to automatically hate it just because its GM.

At least they are having a go.

How is it overrated when it cost USD$65k, thats USD$25k cheaper than a Carrera S, letalone a GT3, Turbo or GT2.
Your're forgetting a GT3 RS has slick tyres also and its a factory race car, not street legal. A 997 GT3 ran 7:54, only slightly quicker than a C5 Z06

BTW the standard C6 Corvette ran 7.59 and the previous C5 Z06 LS6 405hp ran a 7:56 so going on about how the new model with 7L, 505hp and 100kg lighter would be lucky to do 7:50 is crap and you know it.

With 500HP in an approximately 3130-pound (1419.7 kg) package, the ZO6 delivers 0-60 performance of less than 4 seconds, will cover the quarter-mile in the 11's, and deliver a top speed in excess of 190 mph. It is the fastest, most powerful car ever offered by Chevrolet and GM.

The new Z06 was developed in conjunction with the all-new Corvette C6-R ALMS racer, and the engineers ended up with a totally unique vehicle that has its own powertrain, body structure and chassis system, which are distinct from other Corvette models.

Most impressive is the new "LS7" 7.0-liter/427-cubic-inch Gen IV V-8 with lightweight reciprocating components that was directly lifted from the all-conquering C5-R. This small-block 427, which will be hand built at GM Powertrain's new Performance Build Center in Wixom, MI, delivers 500 horsepower at 6200 rpm, 475 lb.-ft. of torque at 4800 rpm, has an 11.0:1 compression ratio and a 7000 rpm redline, and features titanium connecting rods and intake valves, and a dry-sump engine lubrication system.
The 'vette will cost $230k. www.corvettequeensland.com.au full details
I would prefer one of these than any European performance car in the same price range, maybe the interior does need some help though.

The new corvette is arguably better looking and sounding than any Ford GT, faster down the 1/4 and on a track.
Thats all that matters.

Awesome looking car but the GT does look better. If we want to compare looks the Dodge Viper wins hands down. :

I would be embarrased to let people ride in it.

Imagine opening the door to your mates new $200+K sports car and getting into THAT interior! "Would you like me to shift gear for you?"

It looks like someone has put a ZO6 shape fibreglass cover over a Daewoo and hasn't bothered to make the interior look any different!

911 GT3 RS is a full street car on street legal tyres. 911 GT3 RS Cup is the race version. And the Cup is faster then the street version.

997 GT3 has done 7:47 during testing. I don't know where you acquire your information, but 7:47 is from Porsche itself.

Standard 400hp C6 has done 7:59 yes, as did the 350hp Carrera S. The old Z06 reeled off a 7:56 in very controlled conditions with a not so regular state of tune. There was also a C5 Z06 run in full showroom condition, which reeled off a best time of 8:18.

It is overrated in that its being portrayed as a much faster car then it really is. Ok, it's cheap (in America only), and it's very fast. But it's not the fastest car, not faster then the cars its being portrayed as being faster than, nor is it of quality build or reliable. There have been a few problematic Z06's already in the states, the most ammusing of which, the roof panel flew off at 60mph.

Oh and the C6 Z06 (3120lbs) is not 100kg lighter then the C5 Z06 (3118lbs). It's 2lbs heavier.

The biggest reason I don't like that car is posts like the one you displayed above. They're relatively misinformed and proclaim the car to be far better then it is. You don't know how many people have been going on about that car to me saying it's God's gift to cheap supercardom.

It has more flaws then pros. Ultra stiff ride, extremley poor gearshift, jerky driving characteristics, generally difficult to drive, very poor quality (comes with being a US car, and a cheap one at that). The only thing going for it is that it can hit 60mph in 3.5 seconds and go around a corner relatively fast - only on a smooth surfaced road. It would crumble on our pothole infested roads. A 911 Turbo won't. Nor will a 350hp Carrera S. There's a huge difference between the 'vette and the 911's. One of many.

I priced a GT40 into WA and it was going to cost $353k on the road.

Calc from customs was as follows:
US$166,195.000 Sticker Price + Aussie dollar conversion + Transport + Insurance = Landed Cost of AU$247,664
+ 10% Import Duty of $24,764
+ 10% GST of $27,242 (Have to pay GST on Landed Cost inc Duty)
+ LCT on $215,419 = $53,854
For a grand total of $353,524

Needless to say I'm sticking with the GT-P
