Lol, it does look like a chicks car, I'm a chick and I wouldn't own it... i'd be embarassed to drive it.

Each to their own though I suppose, as long as you're happy with it and can handle the jokes. Heh

Nice looking car, like the Veedubs. What sort of currency is one of those on road? Would love to know how they compare to XR5 for price.

The sound of an R32 is hard to beat. The worst bit about driving one would have to be the fact that the exhaust doesn't sound nearly as good as if you were a pedestrian.

Let your mates take it for a gentle drive-by every now and then.
It will probably be the best aural you'll get.

Excellent I'm a big fan of the VW Golf - especially the last generation R32s that you're lucky enough to be driving.

Oh, and you failed to mention; they're AWD aren't they?? It'd certainly be a blast around the twisties in Melbourne. :eclipsee_

Bit rough ... these things come from Europe where the average Joe (or Josephine) isn't going to own a two-ton, V8 sedan. If the fuel costs don't get you, trying to squeeze a Falcon down a narrow cobblestone laneway will. They are the affordable performance cars of their locale ..

.. oh .. and at least "stuff" doesn't start falling off them as soon as you drive them out the showroom ..

I'd have a new Golf GTi as a fun daily driver .. hell I'd even take a Polo GTi .. but I'd still need a V8 "something" for towing the horsefloat

Hey Philbie, No flames here, I'm in the same boat. Good to see you go public with the new wheels, fun to change to such a different beast, keeps life interesting.

You're not the only one to be giving up your Boss Ute. With a baby on the way extra doors were needed. I'll just hide my new wheels in your thread. :

This proves how little you know. :

How many people can say that they have owned a R32? Not that many, utes will be around forever and are as common as dog dung.

Absolute ripper of a car though, must suprise the hell out of some people. Its a bit of a sleeper!

My girlfriend currently has a huge black Rodeo V6 crew cab as a compnay car (not her choice) but is looking at a Focus Turbo or a Golf GTi. I think the $$$ difference would mean the Focus Turbo would have to represent better value? Anyone driven both?

And Philbie, LOVE the wheels wheels!

Hey Philbie,

Sorry to hear the XR8's gone. It may not have had the refinement/finish that the VW's do, but theirs a certain blue collar charm to the Fords which is often not appreciated until you don't have one anymore. Speaking from personal experience here..lol

That’s not taking anything away from the Golf either. Fine piece of kits and they go like the clappers.

Just on a side note: Is it me of is there a growing trend with the forums administrators buying everything but Fords at the moment??:yeees:

I mean if you have a golf then well the R32 is the pick of the bunch.....but only if you have a golf.

Germans do a good jigger when they put their mind to performance over, well, anything and everything else.

Nice car Philbie, not something you will see too many of on the road - they only brought 70-odd into the country from memory

Congrats on the purchase,That is a really nice Golf. For everyday commuting Euro pocket rockets are certainly the way to go..... they take it 1 step further than the japs for refinement.

How is the fuel consumption??

AWESOME!

Nice car mate! Welcome to the Hot Hatch crowd

We had a few GTIs and R32s on a previous drive day with the Clio Sports... and damn did those things move.... and continue to accelerate to high speeds! Being behind them is definitely the place to be though. The exhausts/engine sound from outside the car are just insane, especially for the price you must have paid! Not to mention they are AWD and corner pretty well. Seats are awesome too. Much better car overall then the 147 GTA in my opinion.

Great buy once again!

Congrats.

I love the chick car comments though that come with Hot Hatches. Watch their face when you blow them at the lights and then get the "is it turbo bro?" comments. LMAO
