What About if I Got A 2v Head FOR IT! Then Would I Have A Chance,
Mabye When I Get My Full License I Might Even Think About Turbo,
But For Now I Just Gotta Beat Him,
To Show Him Fords Really Are Better! out:

Just found out the torana has not got a LSD, but the head has been port and polished.

i had a cortina with a 2v headed 250, 350 holley, pacemakers etc... really wasnt anything that special.

Id say you dont have a chance mate But, then you can pile 6 of your mates into your car and head out to a party, where as he might be able to shoe-horn 3 people into the back and 1 in the front.

Size does matter

I have been thinking about xr6 engine, but everywhere i looked they were way too much money!
Wat did the engine come out of?

It is actually pretty important i beat him because he likes holden and i like ford! We have been arguing for years over which is better, but now since he has finally got a car, we can find out!!!

It might sound funny, but i just want to beat him or else he can hold it against me forever that his holden is faster than my FORD. :

lol fair enough.

I'm glad, I don't have any mates, with Fords. I couldn't be F'd proving, which one is better.

One of my mates had a N/A VL Auto and he thought he could beat my VL 5 Speed. That soon changed, when he took mine for a drive and got the message, that his Auto slushbox, would've got cained. lol

Of course, we never ran.

If you got a 2V head and it was in good nick as with the engine, I would say you would beat him, the 250 2V would wipe the floor off a 302 V8 Falcon off simialr yr, in it's day, a good 250 2V would beat a 302 for the 1st 100mts or so.

adding to the general concencus mate you got problem's by the time you catch the torrie the rece will be well ova that being said dragging is phsycological as well egg him on rev him up heap with any luck and and mayb some inexperiance you might be able to get him to hit it to hot off the line spin the wheels to much meanwhile your switched on perfect start theres ur win thats bout the only way its gonna happen as they stand at the mo

It's hard to say who is quicker without knowing the specs on both cars. There are a lot of variables that can make a difference. What sort of times does the Falcon do now? What's the diff ratio, what gearbox you running, what's been done to the 250?

Without knowing the specs of both cars I'd expect the LC to be more likely to win considering that the car is lighter and the 202 is not a bad motor either. If he's running a triple carb set up then you stand no chance as they get up and go really well if it's setup correctly.

If you want to win your going to have to spend some cash on the 250 and if it was me i'd drop the 250 for a V8 conversion.

Engine :250ci fully reconditioned, +0.030 , tunnel honed, mild cam, decked
Gearbox: 4 spd toploader (standard)
Diff: 8 3/4" LSD (standard GS)
Tyres: 245 street

Holden LC Torana

Engine 202 red motor slightly worked(not sure how) 3/4 racing cam, holley 350, port and polished head
Gearbox: Aussie 4pd Manual (M21)?????
Diff: standard *(NON lsd)
Tyres: 195 street

If the torana has a power to weight advantage get him to put some extra kilos in the boot, even it up, or get him to race over a couple of kilometres.Or change the diff centre for the race. Something suitable for a quick getaway, maybe a locked diff?Who knows,who cares its a holden. :

one of my 2 torries with its 4 cylinder used to beat small 6's and 808's all day

i got a chance to own a fully worked 186 triple U's etc and man the power was awesome,but i went family hack and bought a nissan skyline R30 which was just as much fun but efi etc ;)

i'd bet the torry with its lighter weight might have you in all gears except in a long run you might get him back but for say a legit 400m drag it'd be close but torry may have you.

Mate i wouldn't bother racing, It's a never ending battle of out doing one another
It might never end.

My nephew got his mums old VL Calais. Done it up Extractors Sports system, Auto shift kit, 3.9 LSD, Spent a bit out on have the engine fully tunned and getting a extra 20+kw. And i i got from him was i will beat you. This went on and on and on. My brother got the ****s one day and said he was going to take us to Calder race way he had enough. Never raced he got the car a unroad worthy and it sat for 9 months in the back yard. But did it stop his mouth never. Beating him wouldn't stop him cause he would then grab a turbo and start again it's a never ending thing

2V lower diff ratio can overcome the weight advantage to a point...
3.45 to 3.9 would help no end.. A "sneaky Pete" would give you approx 2 seconds quicker over 1/4....

NOS is a brand name, nitrous does't blow engines if it's tuned and fitted correctly.
