Totally agree about Ryno and $900 a year cheaper than my last insurer with better market value.

i have always had a car with Shannons and have only ever claimed a windscreen. are Lumleys good if you need to claim? if i could save a few dollars on the cars, i would be more than happy to switch.

I'd be looking to switch mine also from Shannons, although I did get an email the other week stating I may be in line for competition insurance.
I have not had a problem with Shannons, and they insure my pushbikes. After I had one run over by a vehicle, they issued a cheque for replacement value without question.

Only if I knew about these guys when I insured my Escort, ended up going with AAMI and Shannons wouldn't even give me a quote. At least with AAMI and being under a 25 it was possible to get a 10% saving on the first year.
Once I sell my Falcon I'll get a quote from these guys, if I can.

Does Lumleys insure drivers under 25?

does anyone know if they'll insure modified cars? currently ive been stuck with Just Car Insurance as no one else seems to want to touch it.
I've had my T3 insured with LSV for years with full disclosure on the mods I have (sent them all the receipts).

I recently called Shannons to compare premiums and as soon as I mentioned supercharger the lass started umming, then I stated that the engine had a dart block, and she stopped me and said no can do. Didn't matter that I had engineers certificates and modification plates, she said they couldn't insure it.

Worth a call to LSV to see how you go.

LSV have been exemplary with my claim, they didn't hesitate on the price of any of the parts and their follow up service was great.

My FG GS is a daily drive with Lumley's but it was through a broker not direct and not as special vehicle as the kays are restricted with LSV.

Well, I'm going to have to eat my words (post # 50).
I decided to shop around for my GTO insurance and LSV turned out to be the least conciliatory and if fact were quite argumentative.

My GTO has been valued by four different Muscle Car Sales outlets at $60k +

LSV wouldn’t budge off $45k agreed value, $250 excess, $298 premium
Shannons went $55k agreed value, $300 excess, $285 premium
Ryno went $60k agreed value, $300 excess, $275 premium

Maybe it's only worth 45k? An XYGT was worth 180k a few years ago but now you can pick one up for 90k. I'm no fan of insurance companies but they have to be realistic when it comes to the actual worth of your car. Asking
60k and getting it are two different things. I'd like to insure mine for a couple of hundred thousand but they just won't do it.

I understand what you're saying but it's not about asking ... it's what you get if the car is written off. The value policy is Ryno's, just by the cost of the premium.

And also, they have decided they will part with $60k if it,s written off, so I'd be $15k better off in the payout.

Hi there guys, I thought I might throw my story about my experience with Shannons. I have insured many vehicles over the years with Shannons. I am pretty sure that something has happened with the family tree of the Insurance companies. I believe that AAMI and GIO all fall under the same Underwriters, but the process and formalities have changed.
To add to the issue of premiums. I have just received a new premium for my TE50, which they have slashed $5,000 off the agreed value + put my premium up, for a car that has only driven out of the garage about 3 times in the last 12 months. I told them that at this rate, the value of my car would become less than the value of my partners 2009 Honda JAZZ. They then asked me to drive bring the car to Shannons and have someone look at it.
THe guy basically said he could not justify the car staying at last years agreed value. I asked him what formular he used to slash $5,000 off my car which he clearly knew little about. I very quickly got on the phone with Lumleys. They are insuring my car for almost 40% less at my last years value. From what I can see the policys are very much the same. Including choice of repairer and the windscreen cover. The lady I spoke to was EXTREMELY friendly and helpful. All they asked for were photos of the interior and exterior which I emailed.
I can pass on the ladies contact details if anyone is interested at Lumleys.
All I know , is that there are no exceptions for drivers under 25. ( they will not insure under 25s )
Hope that information is helpful to anyone

+1 for Lumley, they covered my new GT full comprehensive for under a grand and they also covered the XD for 8k for a measly $116, and that's comprehensive cover too!

Agreed value $12500 premium $780. This would have dropped another $40 odd if I was a member of a club and another $30 if I moved my landau over to them

Pretty happy with the outcome

Will insure my Landau with them when she is fully restored - no point whilst it is laid up being restored
Another happy camper here, insured my AU2 XR8 as a daily with LSV for $903 (pay by the year) [market value 10K]

I think my suburb is considered high risk and she stays in a locked carport overnight rather than a garage, so the premium is higher but it's still $277 less than RACV!!

The dude on the phone was very helpful, and the standard features of the policy blow RACV's out of the water.

We switched to Lumley awhile ago. We just couldn't beat their quote for insurance. Even when I called Shannons to see if they could match it, they weren't interested.

Lumley have even insured my restoration project...Gotta be happy with that

A question for everyone who is with Lumley Special Vehicles, have you had any trouble with paperwork getting mailed out to you? After two phone calls I still haven't received anything (and they confirmed my address both times)

Sorry for dragging up an old thread but I just got a quote and valuation from Ryno for my GT-P and I'm very happy with it. All I can say is bye bye Shannons.
