United has E85 on the princess highway, its really good for cars running boost, N/A not so much I think, nothing to really take advantage of its high octane rating.

Autogas is going to simply become an 'inconvenience' leading to total loss in time.
It's the vehicle which will see to that.

Such a shame for Oz and the EcoLPi and the LPG/Gas industry.......Europe, Asia and even the U.S are starting to use gaseous fuels for buses, trucks, taxis, and heating etc etc and yet here in Oz the government are blind to see all the benefits of such a cheap, clean fuel that we have literally hundreds of years of supply.
I seriously DONT get it??? |

Hyundai made/make an LPG hybrid, pity they didn't import it.
I suspect market research would show women are scared of autogas. They think the tanks can explode. Melbourne taxi industry started it, now they're deserting it gradually. The end is nigh.

Hyundai have announced their 'fuel cell' Tucson to be released later this year and Toyota theirs in 2015.
This commences in California. The refueling issue is to be addressed starting soon, a gradual start but seems a revolution is afoot. (Appologies about link, it's in current EarthTechling edition.....Toyota fuel cell fm 2015.

A US investment newsletter refers to a breakthrough in the use of solar energy to creat a 'new fuel' from water using the sun's energy.
It seems, to avoid scarring the horses, the fuel will be marketed as SUN GAS (HYDROGEN) and the rollout of infrastructure to start immediately.

The biggest problem for a change in vehicle energy is infrastructure. Oil / Gas infrastructure is heavily in place, at least in Australia. Nothing around for electric and can guarantee no solid plans for hydrogen.
It's like Australia is happy enough to hum along on the reliance of oil being shipped in everyday. Surely there has to be other ways to propel or move vehicles. I haven't even Googled anything but what about magnets in the road base with same polarity magnets on the base of the vehicle to move the vehicle, probably won't work but surely something can be done.

There is research and development happening just not everyone is 100% involved, when the **** hits the fan eventually they will have something ready so there wont be such a big deal.
Except the Ford Mondeo of the year 2250 will probably sound like a metro train. Anyway who cares, by the time we have oil problems everyone who is posting on this forum or reading this post will either be buried or in an aged care facility. |

The Australian Petroleum Institute (API) will certainly do its utmost to delay hydrogen infrastructure unless they have their fingers in the pie, be certain about that.
Maybe an alignment of retailers and the API like that of hotels and beer brands....interesting times ahead. It,certainly won't happen here quickly IMO.

I subscribe to Uncommon Wisdom Daily (free)
Brad Hoppman wrote it but it won't come up when you google it maybe because it involves US investment tips. Can't seem to give links on iPad.

VW produces ethanol only versions of their small 4's for the Brazilian market, as do other automakers. The amount of sunlight we get in Australia is ridiculous and research has shown you do not need to use prime farming land to produce algae - some of which produce oils (diesel), others being worked on for starch (ethanol). No need to convert current ICE technology. For the land, much more sensible than fracking it. |

As far as I'm concerned, anything, including battery CNG hydrogen etc, that reduces the demand for oil is desirable and should keep a dampener on prices.

Last year we were talking to a high up in Australia Post about environmental issues, and they're trying to make a change, they mentioned they're commissioning their first CNG vehicle, but mentioned there is only one or two places in Victoria they can fill up their vehicle from.

Electric or Hybrid is going to be the new major thing. Toyota is already doing it. Mitsubishi is converting their range over this year. Nissan have dabbled. Emissions are going to be difficult to achieve in a few years time.
