iv'e owned 2 falcon I6 autos and i dragged a VN in one of em EBII wagon and got flogged by about 2 cars, and i reckon he got those two car lenghts on me while my car was still bogging down before take off, it stayed the same after that the whole way.
and now i own a 5L auto VP Calais and i tell ya what, the 1st gear is insane, in the fords you had to wait until 45-50km before you got going but in this thing it starts to pull hard as at 20km, hit second and kicks *** end out a bit, crazy. another thing the VN's have over the fords is the trans is very firm and shifts very hard and quick, (they have all hydraulic transmissions, not computerised) |

go get a manual AU...dont be so damn lazy..lol
or an EA 5sp MPFI, thermos and aluminium radiator (if not already), CAI i think the EL or au ones will fit will some modding and that machine would eat any and come close to a stock AU without a tickford engine or just give your mate a good smack in the face and say Ford won bathurst (we have braging rights for one whole year) what more you want. anything below a VT looks crap imo, and ive had the privilege of driving some nice VK/VL calais' VN's a VR some were fast but they ALL look like a failed attempt pretty much like the AU Go FORD

mate i use to own a el falcon i had some light work done to it and i use to get eaten by vn's i fixed that and just got me a xr8. but in all fairness to my old tractor it use to beat some vns as well i just think there are some freak cars out there and if your mate has one in the form of a lightweight vn i would be optin for a healthy auto xr6 and put some 3.9 diff gears in it and a shift kit as well but dont tell him just smoke him off the line and it would only cost 1500 bucks at the most it:

hey! im not lazy all i drive is manual, i hate autos, every time i go to drive one i put my foot down for the clutch! and i dont think i would want to get an EA and do it up, they are just to lemony (lotsa things wrong with them) i would rather get an EBII 5spd (all the **** ironed out) or my best plan is to get an EFxr6, thats what i want to get for my next car.

When he sold it for his BA Fairmont he was pretty upset, But with 2 kids and a third on the way he didn't think it was the kind of car for a family too have. He still regrets letting it go. He claimed on the dyno stock it was over 180kw. There was always something about this car as it never had take off issues it never struggled with tall gears and god could it handle. I drove it plenty of times and that is true there are some freak cars from the factory.

Don't know if I've got a freak motor or something, but NO V6 Commie has been able to quite match my EL Fairmont up to 100 (stock 157kw, not a Ghia) An Alloytec190 VZ came VERY close once, but thats about the only one.

Got some figures from wheels September 1988
VN man - 400m 15.6 - 0-100 7.6 VN auto - 400m 16.0 - 0-100 8.3 EA man - 400m 15.5 0-100 7.8 no times for the multi-point auto I knew keeping all those mags would come in handy one day. |

15.5 for EA man? that is bull **** fast!!!!!!!!!
thats like the average speed for a bf xr6 which is more than 10years newer and makes way more power and torque! what is the go there? i think ford may have been hiding the real details of the EA's power, or they were really really light lol

EAs were 1450kg, BAs are 1700kg. With the same power, thats more than half a second difference over the 1/4mile.
