Saw one the other day in Burwood (NSW) .... was in a similar colour to the Ford Sunburst ... looked pretty nice ... my better half asked what it was as she had never seen one before.
Agreed ... they look better IRL than a lot of the "stock" images show.

Tell you what. I constantly see a white one on the coast with green P's, If i still had some time to go on my P's I would have been down at the dealer cheque in hand, I couldn't think of any other car I would want on my P's.

Can you post up a torque to weight ratio, it would probably be dead last on that list, which explains why its so much slower than the others despite having a reasonable power to weight. |

BRZ is supposedly set up a little stiffer than the 86.

Well they have developed a FA20 turbo engine. 221kw @ 5600 and 400nm @ 2000-4800. Direct injection, twin scroll turbo.
It's destined for the next Liberty but we might see it in the 86 and/or BRZ eventually in some form. Solves your torque problem right there fellas even if the engine weighs a decent amount more. |

Rang local Toyota dealer. Now, depending on colour and transmission and spec choice the waiting list varies from (at best) 18 months to more than 24 months.....
The real killer is the price. Base model driveaway: you are looking at $42K. The base model, with the smaller brakes and Prius tyres, not the top spec GTS. This seems to be confirmed by looking at carsales - was one manual base model on there with 600km on it for just over $40K. Can pick up low kay autos for $35K tho... Salesman wasn't interested in booking a test drive - told me to try later on maybe when they had a better supply of cars. Which begs the question as to why Toyota are advertising the 86 on tv and other media outlets... So $42K and 2 year wait - there's plenty of much quicker cars out there for that price that you can have in your driveway in a few weeks. |

As for waiting two years for a car......... well that requires one hell of a commitment, assuming no enhanced models are released in the meantime. I know I'd be gutted if I had commited to a GTS, and a Turbo model was announced......... |

So now it's 42k, a 2 year wait and it's not any faster. Toyota have really got a sucker fan base.

Watched a whole bunch of these at the hot tuner shoot out last week. They are not about straight line, even the ones that were turboed were not particularly fast. but on Eastern Creeks short and windy south circuit, and thefigure eight test, They were amazing. Virtually no tyre squeal and huge corner speeds.
Anyone who looks at the overall power is missing the point of the car.

I have to admit, a two year wait plus at least 42k sticker price would have me looking elsewhere.
I love the very idea of the 86 but that sort of cost and timeframe is just getting nutty. |

Black GT manual (the one that I have driven) and red GTS manual with the aero kit. PM me if you actually want to buy either and I will give you the details. |

I'd like to see how they hold up against other similar style of cars, like DC2/DC5 Integra Type R, S2000, MX-5, RX8, et al.

But it loses to a 4 cylinder falcon? Don't get me wrong I love the concept of the 86 but its' performance as a standard car does seem to be lacking a bit.

This guy is here to save you the 2 year wait, and he's not trying to profit at all... Price is negotiable but firm (WTF?). Won't even let you test drive it, though.
