This is a big secret but....um here goes.....
I bought a Mitsubshi Lancer for $36,000 back in 2000. I had it fitted with an Evo 6 bodykit, extractors, cruise, brushed aluminium console (stickers), dash done in white. All done by the dealer (hence the price). I sold it exactly 3 years later the day its warranty ran out for $16,000. I'm going to cry....again. Wish I had spent that on a Ford.....more crying.

I lived in the Philippines for most of my life and the sheer number of poorly done, riced-up Jap cars was just mind-boggling. However there were a lot of high-quality, tastefully done ones too which (God help me) grew on me quite a bit.
There are still a lot of old-school Jap cars over there that have been lovingly maintained and look awesome. My personal favourites are: the first-gen Celica KE35 Corolla coupe Mitsubishi Celeste and Mitsubishi Colt/Galant

^^^^^ A mate of mine had a 131 Arbarth, and it went like the wind and sounded fantastic. But the gearbox and clutch made it almost undrivable in the City

[QUOTE=TheInterceptor]Oh for me it would have to be the L series subaru's...always seen them around, seen what they can do offroad aswell. Just loved the bod shape and everything. You can tell because i bought the older version of it haha.
yeah i put some serious research into getting a touring wagon, there used to be a place in box hill, vic called the suburu collection they used to sell a lot of used touring wagon, high end of the market prices so we're talking 7-8k (this was back in the late 90's), alas i opted out of getting into that much debt and bought my aunty's 92 hyundai excel instead! those touring wagons just keep going and going. v reliable.

Admission - my first car was one of these, in dull grey. Shocker.
And ever since I drove it, I've wanted an air-cooled pre-964 Porsche 911. Being a Ford forum and all, the most controversial secret I have is that if I was in the market for a big local V8 sedan, I'd be walking straight to the Holden dealer for a VE SS. Wouldn't give the FG any time at all - just don't like 'em.

Co-incidentally, I helped a friend-of-a-friend clear under his house out before the floods hit our suburb. He's properly into Mokes - has two currently in progress, one of which we were able to save (the other will just get hosed out as it's been neglected). And I can confirm that two people can lift a Mini engine/box into the back of a trailer with only a small amount of grunting...

There's nothing to be ashamed of here. The cars you guys are posting are all pretty good, blindly following one make without an eye for others is pretty silly imo.

My secret favourite is the V8-powered Rover P5 Coupe:
I just love the style. The Volvo 122 is similar:

My dirty little car secret is - I always wanted (and kinda still do) a 1988 Ford KE Laser TX3 Turbo AWD...
Though I wanted to paint it bright/fluro lime green... Still would love to get my hands on a fairly original one though... they're hard to find in AWD and they are becoming collectable... Great fun car to drive... Not as fun as the Clevo 351... ;)
