Wouldn`t they rather be in a job? or is the easy way to hope for a company to close so you can get a payout? and then what happens when that money runs out?

No job these days is certain so you can say it for any industry.
Heaps of jobs up north or west if people want security over the next 10 years. Like I said, if there is no passion for the brand then they are better to move on.

I've been reading allot of news paper clips & net clips that keep saying Ford has been given a 103M hand out.. This is not correct, Ford has been given 53M hand out & has invested 50M of it's own money.. I with they'd get it right.. Especially Paul Glover who should know better !!

They won't play with it now. Its only just come out so no need to waste money on more power, they could have got more if they wanted it, they just would have leaned towards economy.
It really makes around 210kw anyway in the real world, marketing numbers are just fluff. |

And i find it funny that altho i know its not a handout of sorts it more like the gov supporting eco enginered cars...i was still under the impression from paul knobfaces article that the gov was giving the full 103mil |

OK, let's go back a step..
We also have prima face evidence in the form of Mustang Falcon and Territory that those three vehicles can and do use three separate floor pans to achieve their end goals, folding metal is not the expensive part of the equation, look at where the high end costs are and what can be shared.. The cradle and swing arms in an IRS are mostly folded steel and bushes, the costly part is the differential, drive shafts hubs and spindles. Look at all the things the three could share tomorrow if allowed to: - Engines - Transmissions - Electrial systems and switch gear. - Epass and park assist, lane keeping, MyFordTouch - Front suspension design, hubs, spindles ball joints, swing arms. - EUCD/CD4 Side frames and Slim Door Design - Front chassis rails and firewall, crash protection design. - differential, drives shafts, rear hubs and spindles - Braking systems - Front seats, dash panel and IP design - HVAC systems. - Body computers and stability control. The things that make the vehicles different go onto the derivative side - Top Hat and Floor Pan - Trim and glass. - IRS design, cradle and swing arms. Surely to goodness a strategy like that enable all RWD vehicles the latitude to meet vehicle parameters while combining all the high end costs of the separate projects saving a bundle on engineering, everything GM tried to do with Sigma, Zeta and Now Alpha but has yet to deliver on those promises... |

Interesting if you throw the Ute into the mix too. forward cabin, and doors are also shared. It is also interesting to look backi in time and note that previous coupe falcons (and Chargers too) have had more Ute DNA than sedan DNA, |

Hmm. That last link looks dodgy. But here's one where the German auto industry got a $1.5bn financial aid package in 2009... http://www.ihs.com/products/global-i...x?id=106595963

http://www.german-business-portal.in...n,rwb=true.pdf
Page 5 - "Germany offers investment incentives of up to %50 of Capital Expenditure" Is that meant to compare against the ACIS which is 1$ assistance per 4$ spent? Lukeyson
