Hello all,

Can someone please tell me what to look for to I.D a PH3 HO Falcon , I have the privilege to go look at a PH3 HO Falcon ( apparently).
It's my sister inlaws uncle's car ( yes I know what you my be thinking), all I know about car the car is
He wrote off his first falcon GT ( apparently it was a HO falcon as well )
His sister bought a brand new falcon HO PH3 to replace wrecked one
It has 50 miles on speedo ( apparently)
A few years back he spent $140k returning it back to original, i.e factory colour, and engine bay .
I've know about car for a few years now , and my brother inlaw filled me in on the weekend about car.

I'm a bit confused, are you saying he restored a car that only had 50 miles on the speedo back to original?

Why on earth would a car with only 50 miles on it have been modified so far from stock that it cost $140k to restore it anyway?

Hello,
No need to be sorry, what for?
Did you know you can buy Boss302CHO heads, the HO means " High Output "
But Ford Australia could not use words like High Output or anything close to more or superior power, surely you must remember the early 70's and having to queue up for fuel for 5 miles just to get 5 bloody gallons, just for work for the week, and all these idiot 18 yr olds buying, driving and dieing in V8 missiles?

Cheers,King Billy to you!

Dear Snowflake

The HO stands for "Handling Option" the GT of the day came with up-rated suspension and others can re-quote me if wrong but from what I understood was that apart from the normal changes they made to the GT suspension a special front axle assembly coded as 22R to help steering axis inclination.

Cheers

Hope this reply works,

So the story goes , he wrote off his first HO PH3 falcon. His sister bought him a new HO PH3 falcon, he change the color of the car and chrome the engine.
He only put 50 miles on the second HO PH3, a few years back he had it restored back to original color and factory engine bay. It was a bare metal respray and the cost was $140k .
Someone years ago offered him big money for the falcon, but he doesn't want the money and apparently passing onto his son.

Cheers Jason

So if someone has info how to identify the HO falcon, it would be appreciated.
On a side note, I was speaking to a mate in qld and his Dad owns a HO PH2 falcon.

I know I shouldn't but...

18138 and Engine H should do it.

As Snowflake indicated that's what Ford Oz decided to cleverly designate it as due to not wanting to advertise extra power so in OZ yes that is what it stands for .

But in reality back in those days Ford US designated HO as High Output. Mustangs were also available with a 351 HO.

I would rather take the word of the Ford Motor Co over some internet nuffy. They are the ones who said it stood for Handling Option. Try getting your facts right before you make an absolute fool of yourself like you just have.

Cheers Billy.
I know very little about these cars but doubt Ford would bring out a "homo option"

I always thought it was "high output".

HO

I'm another one who has always believed it was Handling Option.

Though if I was pushed into a corner I couldn't honestly say I know as it's just something I've read and heard over the years.

Whilst we've all heard of HO standing for 'Handling Option' or 'High Output' depending on the story teller, is it possible that for the XY series of GTHO's it did infact designate a 'Homologation Option'
The reason i ask is because im sure i remember Norm telling us that XW GTHO's had their own model code whereas in the XY, and perhaps XA, HO was an option on a GT model code.

That's what the magazines reported back in the day.

Officially it was "Handling Option", but unofficially it was known as "High Output".

Yep, very funny, however, the auction has been done and dusted.
