Ford don't import anything from America at the moment anyway. Theres only 3 unique US made models right now - Taurus, Mustang and F Series. Only the latter 2 would likely sell enough to justify the effort. Even though of those 3 the Taurus would closest match Falcons customer base, it would be better to replace Falcon performance models with Mustang and push Falcon fleet/family sales onto Mondeo and also provide the more powerful Ecoboost option from Europe that we don't get.
It's my belief that Falcon could find it's niche as a performance saloon in Ford's global market, as well as a basis for a Lincoln Luxo barge version. Alongside Taurus which would become fleet/family EcoBoost, Hybrid, PHEV, REEV, EV. A sort of fat green blob for the masses who like to buy Camry's and Sonata's offering all the feel-goodery of mass economical transport.

What does the government have to do with importing Fords?

Ford Australia is responsible for importing cars, not the government.

Maybe he is confussed that they, GovCo, are tipping in so much coin that they do indeed own it? lol

Just pull the pin now FoA and get into the import game, worked a treat for Nissan and Mitsubishi, and then i finally can buy a full-factory F150 for $30k

I'm not sure why you think imported Ford's will drop in price? They will be prices at what the marketing will pay. And your are NOT getting an F150 for 30K!! Dream on!!! Do you see Toyota, Mazda, Holden sell utes of that sixe for 30K??

So you seriously think they would make the F150 10k cheaper than a Ranger. Dream on.

And just because the Falcon and Territory were finished that wouldn't change the fact that the Ranger does the job of the F series here, nor does it change the fact the F series is unavailable in RHD. Give it up chump, its never going to happen, with or without local production.

A Ranger is nothing like an F Truck...both built for different purposes...

i'll give you one iced donut with sprinkles if you go say that to the thousands of taxpaying workers hired buy Ford of Australia.

No one cares about you wanting a cheap F-truck, they want to see the proud tradition of australian manufacturing kept alive.

GTFO.

So the tray on the back and the cabin for sitting either 2 or 5 are somehow used for different purposes then?????

In terms of size F150 and Ranger are fairly close.

I'm not talking Super Duty's here, just F150.

F Trucks are for towing/hauling big loads. Ranger might be similar to the F150 but the F250 and above no way...
and you can get these engines in the Ranger ?? F150 you can...

Horsepower 302 @ 6500 rpm (3.7L V6)
360 @ 5500 rpm (5.0L V8)
411 @ 5500 rpm (6.2L V8)
365 @ 5000 rpm (EcoBoost®)

I think you have polluted this forum enough with your twaddle about F-trucks. Go away.

Reality check,
Landcruiser ute is much closer to F150, the cheapest new one you can buy costs $64,000

another thread with never ending surmisings about Ford's future, various opinions & statements, maybe some false, some true, some half true?

here is an actual fact. Both my bro-in-law & I worked for Fomoco in NZ, him for many years. So he had some loyalty from the old days in the 80's when we worked for the assembly line.
Recently he needed to purchase a vehicle for work, something nice & spacious as he is a sales engineer & has to cart stuff around sometimes, also has a big dog.
He went to a Ford dealer & said 'I need a Falcon wagon'. They said 'they don't make them anymore, we can sell you a Mondeo'.
He bought one of those big Dodge 4WD things.

That's a fact, that Ford lost one sale, no opinion here.

I do hear the 'opinion' from family members, friends, & forum posts, that the FG is not as attractive a design as the B series. Personally that is partly why i bought an 08 BF & not an FG.
This is just some people's opinion about the FG, but every person that holds that opinion may be one less sale for Ford.

Mate, the FG is fantastical! If you look closely all over the exterior the panels perfectly flow into each other, while the BA I had was okay...but not as cohesive overall. FG also uses superior body panels...I cant remember the new tech theyre using (using Boron steel or something in there) but the fit is tight in the right way. Ford AU's FG falcon beats anything in its class.

Nissan Maxima? Dodgy accelerator pedal...the first few degrees/cm dont do anything.

Was the Territory considered seeing he eventually bought an 4WD Dodge?

This is just nonsense!! He wanted a station wagon, but then ended up with a 4WD? Did he consider the Holden Wagon for example.. It sounds like he never really wanted a station wagon to start with, becuase if he did, he would have bought one (Regardless of weather Ford builds one or not!!

My brother & myself both prefer the FG look over the BA, this is why we both own FG XR6T (he did copy me!!).

Well no, not really, that wasn't the intention.
I was really just trying to say that my bro-in-law went to the Ford dealer first, before anywhere else, & wasn't able to find anything he wanted. I think they told him a new Territory would be about a month away by order.
Make of that what you will?
I think maybe he just struck some salespeople who didn't really impress him, when he was about to spend a reasonable amount of money. Not Ford's fault I guess?

The point was that it was a real world example of Ford not achieving a sale. Not just to have a crack. To be just having a crack at Fomoco would be kind of pointless, & I think I could find better ways to do that if that was my intention.

LOL, waiting a month for a car is nothing, try 8-12 months for a VW Van. Not aimed at you or your brother, but I often read of someone not happy to wait, I just don't get what the hang up is, if you had one written off and no form of transport fair enough.
